Where to stay?

I'm coming to CP this summer for the first time. My question is where to stay? Moderate to budget but in a nice area and a clean hotel. I'm looking for a family type enviroment. Thanks a lot.

If you have a family, I can't say enough good things about Lighthouse Point on the property. It's about $300 for two nights, but it's your own little place with a fair amount of room, view of the bay, on-property convenience, a pool and hot tub, grill, etc. I plan to stay there every year now, at least once.

If you want a CP hotel that is cheaper, Breakers Express is also nice.

We've also stayed at the Breakers, Comfort Inns (there are 3 in the area), Red Roof (a bit further south, but nice and inexpensive), and the Hampton Inn.

I'd stay at any of them again.

$300 for 2 nights???

Is that like towards the end of the season. We Went to the Breakers last summer and paid $250 per night. Which i think was crazy. If its that much cheaper...I'll be staying there all the time from now on.

NYC Subways, The next best thing to riding roller coasters.

We have two stays at Lighthouse Point booked for 2003. End of June we're booked for around $235/night, including all taxes. Mid-October during Halloweekends, it's more like $175/night, including all taxes. This is before any package pricing, which may or may not lower the cost.

In the past, we've stayed at Sandcastle during the summer season. It is a good option for families with small children. Far enough away from the noise of the park to wind down, and enough space for the parents and kids to get away from one another. It is about the same cost, but based on what I've read/heard, I think we'll enjoy the cottages even more next year.

It is possible to find rooms in Breakers for moderate (as in, $150 or so) prices even in high season, but with fewer amenities and less space.

I'm thinking that the Comfort Inn is more in the price range that I am going to want. Are there anymore like that, that you would suggest. Let me know if there are any I should avoid or any areas I should avoid. Thanks a lot.
The Raddison Bay Harbor Inn is nice. In the fall-late summer if you make your reservations a day before you go the rooms are $49.00 a night. Nice place has a balcony off each room an TGI Fridays is right there. Indoor Pool/Hot Tub/Game Room/ Workout Room..

The Raddison Bay Harbor is very nice my family has stayed there before, but I didn't know the prices went down so low, we payed over $130 for a room in early May. If you are looking for a family oriented hotel with reasonable rates, I'm going to agree with the Breakers Express suggestion. Their rates change through the season, so call Cedar Point reservations for more pricing information. If none of the CP resorts offer what you are looking for, call the Sandusky Chamber of Commerce and they can supply you with a helpful list of hotels in the area as well.

What about Green tree Inn anyone ever stay there. I see they have a bowling alley at the hotel.
Green Tree is all right, better than some hotels. Its a bit rundown the last time I was there. But Breakers Express is more qaulitative for your money, Green Tree can get a bit expensive, your better off at Breakers Express.

Staying "on point" may be a little bit more expensive, but it is well worth it. You are able to just walk over to your favorite coasters because you are right there. Come and go as you please!

Plus you don't have to deal with that God awful traffic arriving and leaving the park. And no parking fees (they're refunded since you are a resort guest...almost 10 bucks, BTW).

I'll never stay "off point" again.

Is Breakers Express within walking distance to the park? Which month are the crowds and the hotel rates the least Jun-Aug.
No and June (plus the last week of August).
Breakers Tower, Or Lighthouse point. You cant go wrong with either.

I really want to spend a night in the Breakers. I've never got to spend two consecutive days at the park, and I've always wanted to be there to see the sun rise. I still don't know if I'll have the money to do that this summer, but what is the latest I should try to make a reservation and still expect a cheap room to be available? I don't want to make one untill I'm sure I'll have the money, but I'm not sure when that will be.

While I certainly agree that staying on site is the best option for the convenience of being able to come and go as you please, I booked rooms at the Radisson online for $105 per night. Yeah, you pay more in parking, but you still have access to ERT, and with the money saved on the room (and the VF season pass :) ) , I think I'll stay another day or two!

I think regular prices for the Radisson are between $130 and $150, but if you search for all rates at Radisson.com, you can find their web/hot deals rates.

What is ERT? And is there a strip in the area with different things to do on it?
