Whatever we get for 2001, when will we see an announcement?
With PKD and Silver Dollar City announced
can we expect it soon?
When one of two things happen.
1. Someone has proof of what they are building.
2. They start laying footers.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
Cedar Point doesn't have a press release for every ride, i.e. the rock climbing wall. If it is a major ride CP will start sending tid bits of info our way.

But what about the big signs they always put up in the park about "New for Next Year..." stuff? Those usually go up toward the very end of August.

You can't make an announcement if there's nothing to announce. At this time, there is nothing to announce... trust me.

Jeff will there be any thing to announce this year?
Wait a minute!! Are we saying that as of now Cedar Point has nothing planned for next year!? I doubt that. And just wondering... what is "if it is a major ride CP will start sending tidbits of info are way" all about? do they usually do this? I always thought CP usually made there announcement around Labor Day.One other thing that has kept me wondering, is that we usually have some type of an idea of what next years attraction(s) will be but do we even have a clue this year?

It doesn't matter if CP gets something big and new next year. I'll still be sitting here all winter with the same anticipation of getting on one of those world-class roller coasters again.
Believe me, with Magnum, MF, Raptor, etc... I'm set for years to come.
Capital improvements are an always welcome break every other year.
I have heard CP is gettin a boardwalk for next year so u can walk down the beach.... CP doesnt ususally get 2 world class coasters in 2 consecutive years.... they wait one year and then build..
but don't they announce if they would get lets say a merry-go-round. Wouldn't they announce that sometime
Sure they have plans (cough-raze-ocean-cough), but there's nothing in the works that requires a fall announcement. There will be snow on the ground before you hear anything.

Jeff, no coughing needed out of you! Most people have known about that now pointless little stadium in the Disaster Transport area being gone soon enough. Snow is boring, except when you're playin' football in it!!! Watch out Start Spartans!!!
I hate to disagree, I'm pretty sure but there will be some kind of announcement soon. I know for a fact that the Breakers Express is going to be added on to next year, and they always announce hotel expansions at the end of August along with any other capital improvements. We'll see what happens. One things for sure...the Point is rolling in dough (unfortunately those other Cedar Fair parks keep the stock down!) and maybe they'll spend money on something new...or maybe they won't.
I think what Jeff is eluding to is that there will not be a major ride for next year. This shouldn't surprise any of us. CP has always gone on the 2 year cycle after putting in a major coaster as was pointed out previously in this thread. My GUESS is that 2002 will be another major ride. Hopefully it will be a wooden coaster as CP needs a quality wooden coaster IMO.
I have been hearing things about the IMAX theater being converted into a simulator ride of some type. I think I have seen it mentioned here..but I have also heard it from sources within the park.
I think if it happens it's a good move. The park needs an attraction like that IMO. For the most part the quality of the IMAX films the past few years has been poor, so why not try something new and exciting and take advantage of the newer technologies?
Also, there was a time ..ohhh let's say ten years ago, when you HAD to come to CP to see an IMAX film. Those days are gone now, with IMAX theaters popping up in most major cities in Ohio and surrounding states. The novelty is kind of worn off, so why not make use of the building and try a new approach? I think it's a great idea.
I'm not one who normaly participates in rumors or specualtions, but I have a feeling this may happen...just a gutt feeling.

What I meant about CP sending tid bits of information our way is that if there is a plan for a major ride next year we will hear about it by a press release or the Lemon Chill Guy, but I agree with Jeff and CP Twister, I doubt anything over-the-top for 2001.

Well we have been told it will change the look of the park... what could that mean??? if they tear down oceana thats not really changing the look of the park. They almost make it sound like they are going to retheme that whole area???
Well what would a board-walk project entail? Retheming perhaps?!? I seriously doubt anything EXTREMELY spectaculare for next season. Besides why ruin the suprise when they can hold it for longer and hype the anticipation! ;)

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?" (as stated by my best-friends about CP)
Much though I'd love it, I don't think we're likely to see two coasters in one year unless one is a junior coaster, or they are both very small, such as a boardwalk-type woodie or a wild mouse...
