When Raptor Valleyed (Rollback)...

How did they get the train back to the station? Did they use a crane to pull-through the rest of the way?

Why do you have to bring up such sad events?

I was not happy with their decision to send that train on closing day. I didn't get a chance to ride all weekend because of rain, then on the one clear day they send an empty train that valleys.

Of course, it was fun watching the WildCat crew on Saturday night send an empty train around. We were waiting in line (they were testing, and we were hoping they'd open) when it happened. It was funny.

I'm pretty sure they just threw some blue tarp on that baby and put it to bed. LOL :D

I'm sure they just took it apart into a million peices. They have to do it anyway. All 3 trains are probably on it's track right now as we speak...or close to it.

^ No.

They used winches and it took the better part of a day to get it to a point where it would roll back to the station on it's own. I had the images from the webcam at one time. I may have deleted them. Now all I have are the pictures of it sitting there.

The winching though, I believe, happened in that week AFTER closing. The ride never did open that day.

I was sad that day.. hoping for a nice ride on Raptor to finish out the season, never got that chance though sadly.

I did wonder when they did retrieve the train.

I thought they take out one side of wheel assemblies and forklift the cars, individually, to wherever.

I also was bummed it was closed all day. But at the same time, it felt kind of appropriate, like Raptor was already closing. It looked very mournful, just sitting there.

Adam, its much easier to do that from a location made to do that.

Each ride and each location is dealt with differently. In Raptor's situation, the mid-course brake is very close and the ride is designed so that the ride can complete the course from that location if it is stopped.

MF doesn't have a spot where this would be possible.

P.S. I was the smart one and went the week before. Raptor remains the best ride at the park in my opinion, after TTD of course. *** Edited 3/2/2007 2:50:51 AM UTC by Gomez***

Got my last ride in on Saturday night. I happened to be on Turnpike Cars when I saw it sitting there in the darkness of Closing Day.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
