When it Rains...

This is something that has been bugging me for a while, and I can't seem to find any discussion on it.

I've mentally checked each of the coasters at CP, and the way I remember the tracks/stations, the trains are stored under a roof of some kind at night or when it is raining.

Where will they leave the TTD trains overnight/when it is raining? Now, I KNOW that there are the extra maintenance/storage rails, but from the official pictures and what I can see on the webcams at the moment, it looks like this is not going to be a covered area. Is that station really long enough to store all 6 trains?

It may be an irrelevant point, because it did occur to me that once round the track at 120mph will most likely dry anything out :) But it does seem to be a departure from the norm at CP.

Anyone got any ideas?

As for storing the trains during rain/overnight, most of the coasters do not have shelter (Mantis, Millennium Force, Magnum, Woodstock Express, Wildcat & Iron Dragon). When they are put away for the night, their transfer tracks do not have coverage. As for rain, the only ride that can't run in the rain (to the best of my memory) is Wildcat, but the cars are not necessarily covered during rain. TTD will be able to run in the rain, but it will most likely be uncomfortable.

Yes, im sure TTD can run in the rain but who ever dose it would be pretty dumb. Those rain drops may hurt hitting you in the face going 120 mph.
Yeah it would, but it would just bring another element to the ride. If you ride it while it's raining you can go around and tell all your friends, "I rode TTD and I was the only IDIOT that rode it in the rain!" ;-)

Yeah it's not that they shut down rides because they're afraid the rain will damage the trains, it's because the rain gets in the way of the safety system. Newer rides aren't as sensitive to rain though, and that's why they are able to continue to operate. Gemini on the other hand, goes down in a drop of rain, thanks to our wonderful twenty-five year old photoeyes.

the only real issue I could think of that would be wet seats, and how much people hate wet coaster-train seats =P
I dont think some of you understood the question...

Where will they leave the TTD trains overnight/when it is raining?

And with that question in mind, im sure that they will have more than enough shelter on the transfer tracks in order to cover all six trains...its a state of the art ride, i cant imagine they would design it to leave 6 expensive trains out in the rain.

Speaking of expensive, i wounder how much each train did cost...they never really talk about that...if anyone could answer that, lemme know.

What you lack in intelligence, you make up for in stupidity.

Leaving trains out in the rain is no big deal. The bulk of the trains expense is well protected such as the steel, the brake units, and the restraint system. The rest of the train dosen't care if it gets wet feet.

Here's a better question, how much do people hate warm, wet coaster train seats? ;)

The trains will be out in the elements overnight on the transfer tracks no matter what the weather is like. Just look at MF's trains. They have no shelter, so why would TTD be any different. Although it may just be an artist's rendering, it has been accurate for the most part from what we've seen...this aspect will be no different.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

Its not a big deal to leave trains out in the rain over night. Im imagine it will be the Maintenace department who decieds where to put the trains at night on TTD. That is how it was on Millennium. We would usualy get a call from them before we closed telling us what trains to keep on and what trains to take off. Most of the time there would be a train on Load, Unload, and the other in the transfer. Sometimes we would have two trains on the transfer. But most of the time though, it was up to Maintenance since they were the ones working on them all night.

Oh, you mean other than Iron Dragon, Wildcat, Mantis, Millennium Force, Mine Ride, Gemini, Woodstock Express, Gemini, Magnum and Corkscrew?

When the trains are wet, don't they usually send them through the ride a few times to dry them off and to ensure they run within safety guidelines (read: brakes work, don't go too fast on slick track, etc.)?

You know there's nothing good on TV when you're desperate enough to specifically look for infomercials.

Actually, Mine Ride's trains are stored in a covered area.......

As for running a few test times around after rain, etc, I know Mantis will send at least one around after rain. But we don't close the ride if it starts raining. Only if the rain become incredibly hard (i.e. hail) or if lightning is spotted somewhere close. You're best ride (at least in my opinion) is during the rain, or right after the rain (like the first train around.
