When does school resume in your area?

My daughter and I went to the Point Memorial weekend (busy of course), on June 25 & 26 (fairly busy), on July 17 & 18 (busy, then quiet after 8pm). We're going back again on August 21 & 22. She doesn't start school (4th grade)until Sept. 4, (which is only fair since her last day of school was June 21)!!! We're from the Buffalo, NY area-----where are you from and what is the first day of school(elementary, middle, or high school) in your area?

(We're hoping to have the park to ourselves---but that's wishful thinking!!!)

In our area (Toledo, Bowling Green), we usually start late August. BG's first day is the 27th.

Here in jolly ol' St Clair Shores, SLHS goes back August 26 (or 27th). Which I find quite stupid, since we goto school for 2 or 3 days, only to have Friday and the following Monday off for Labor day.

Unfortuantly, for us Reynoldsburgians, school starts Aug. 28.

Detroit Public School's start back the last week of August, I'm a senior now!

Ugh...don't even bring it up! I want the month of summer I have to last an eternity...school sucks.

If you can DELAY your trip a few days, GO DURING THE LAST WEEK OF AUGUST..Repeat GO DURING THE LAST WEEK OF AUGUST. Especially Mon thru Thursday of that week...(August 26- 29). There is a reason CP changes the hours to an 8 p.m. close and it is NOT because the QUEUES are FULL. Even if schools haven't started, the park is "quiet" during this week.

Even the FRIDAY of this week isn't TOO bad compared to the rest of the month of August.

Even a crowded day at CP is better than ANY day at work or school.

Here in Sylvania, we have to go back the 23rd of August (very stupid because that is a Friday). I believe Toledo Schoold begin the following week.

Halloweekends (September, October) Sundays the park is litterally empty. No one is there.

here in Monroe, MI, we start back on like the 27th or 28th, i think. i just want to enjoy the rest of my summer.

Canton, Michigan also starts the last week in August. I used to always go to CP the Thursday before Labor Day because everything was close to a walk on. But since my son started High School, he can't take that day off anymore without having a ton of homework to catch up on.

I did notice on CP's schedule that the park closes at 10pm when I'm going. As much as I would love to change my trip to the following week--when they close at 8pm, I can't. I got too good of a deal at the hotel I'm staying at--$35 a nite! I booked it last Sept......I'll know better this year when I book for next summer!!

My daughter and I will be going to CP for Columbus Day weekend (last visit of the year--boo-hoo!! sniff, sniff!), so hopefully, we'll get to enjoy a "quiet" Sunday!!!

Thank God, someone has to go before I do. I start here in Michigan City, IN, the hometown of G.A.Beockling, on August 23.
