When do you let your kids ride Millennium Force?

My daughter is just a squick under 48", but she's still pretty scrawny. Has anyone here let their four footer ride Millennium Force right away? It's my favorite ride, but I worry that it might be too strong for a skinny little kid. That being said, I have seen many little ones happily skipping off the ride. What do you think?

That's your judgement call! How old is she?

When you visit CP, visit my Mill, est. 1835

She's almost seven. I trust that CP keeps their rides safe, but I have blacked out on MF before and just wonder if the Gs are too great for a little twig of a kid like mine. It won't keep me from riding it 100 times in a row though...just sayin' :)

I rode Dragster for the first time the year it opened...and I was seven...But the forces on Millennium are somewhat different than Dragster and is a longer ride. Plus I was not as small as your daughter seems like, but I was fine. I guess it's just up to you. I'm not a parent, just a high school kid, but I was able to handle those types of coasters at her age, but also like I said I wasn't as small as her.

I have heard of different ways to avoiding the effects you feel when you blackout or what the call "grey out" and that's as you approach where it happens to squeeze the muscles in your legs and butt. I've never tried it or anything but have seen some site say that's a way to avoid it.

11 years.

Don't you automatically clench those muscles anyway? :D

Realistically there is only one way to know for sure if she will grey out on MF--just be sure and ride with her the first time and see how she reacts.

I'm not sure how much it'll affect your daughter but I tend to grey out less if I have eaten before I ride.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

My cousin rode it when she made the 48' mark and she was 8. She was scared at first but she loved it. My aunt was probably the most nervous though. My aunt told me she held her the whole ride even thought it was unnesscary. Go for it. Don't push her though. If you get them on coasters early than most likely they will become a ride warrior.

Favorite coaster: Millennium Force
Favorite flat: maXair

I took a different approach with my son. He probably would have ridden every 48" ride the first year he was tall enough. But seems to me that once you ride MF and the other better 48" coasters, you lose interest in riding the lesser 48" coasters. So he built his way up through the 48" coasters over 3 seasons. Gave him some time to enjoy all of the coasters. Other a handful of coasters at CP, I rode them when they were built. So why throw him on all of them in the same year? And at this point, he is a total coaster maniac.

My son's first ride on MF was last year closing day. He was 5 and just barely cracked the 48" mark. He loved the ride and wanted to do Dragster. He has a few more years to go on that one.

Let your kid decide if they want to ride it. As I said, my son loves MF, but he won't step foot on Skyhawk. That's his choice and I'm not going to force him to go on something he doesn't want to. And furthermore, make sure you are still riding with them. It'll be a while until I let my now 6 year old to ride something on his own until I know he can ride responsibly on his own.

Most of all have fun!

Just like Rob said - let your child be your guide.

Our 6 year old insisted on riding it the day he hit 48.001" tall. We were a bit nervous but I knew hew would be safe so on we went. He loved it and can't get enough of it.

Skyhawk was the same story - except I was scared of him riding it. I made sure the lap bar was as tight as it could be. He rode it, survived it, and got right back on it.

Those are now his two favorite rides.

I was afraid of Skyhawk too!! Do they squeeze down far enough on these little ones? LOL I'm a paranoid mom, but my daughter is a total coaster nut already. When she was three she begged to get on MF, and said she would stand on her tippy toes to get on :D

Ride MF at 48"
