Wheels and Axles

In the days I've been in GTTP, I have heard Jeff, and others talk about how the reason for Magnum being bumpy and rough is the Wheels or Axles. Now in a recent TR from Jeff, he said that the axle problem was fixed, but the wheels were in bad shape. Anywho, my question is, how can you tell? How can you tell the difference of a wheel gone bad or a axle gone bad?

When a wheel goes bad it usually has some groves valleys, or in extreme situations cracks, that can be seen with the naked eye.

...while if the axle is bad, the actual car will move.
When you are riding, a bad wheel will usually feel like a rhythmic bounce in time with wheel rotation. "Thump thump thump thump." The axle trouble CP was having would actually cause the axle to shimmy back and forth. That usually results in a strange wobble in the back of the car.

Other bad wheel indicators are a nasty squeal or screech, particularly if the tire shreds off or the bearing siezes.

Didn't BKF at SFO have a wheel problem this year?
