What's with that John Deere display?

I've been to CP dozens of times over the last five seasons, and curiosity has finally gotten the better of me: Does anybody know why Cedar Point has a John Deere display along the Midway back by the Magnum restrooms? How long's it been there? And is anyone aware of anyone ever being inspired to buy a John Deere product because of that display?

I didn't visit CP between 1992 and 1999, but when I visited the park in the late 80s/early 90s, I could swear that display was there back then.

Am I wrong? Am I crazy?

And is this about as obscure as a topic can get?

John Deere is one of CP's sponsors. There must be some sort of an agreement that they're able to display their products in the park that way...don't forget it is still the Midwest. I noticed while visiting my family recently that there is even a John Deere store in the Southpark Mall in Strongsville.

I don't remember the exact year, but it was somewhere in the mid 90's. Cedar Point uses some John Deere equipment for landscaping and park operations. The display is part of whatever agreement they have.

They probably either get their JD's for free or a reduced (VERY reduced) price/lease rate.

So, Walt...if we visit the park in the off-hours, when the work is being done, are we likely to find the display equipment is "missing"?

Well, that explains it. I still wonder whether the display has ever led to an actual sale of some JD equipment. Wonder if they track that, or how they would.

That equipment is just for display.
