OK, after reading several posts (all different threads) I am wondering...what is with all the Lighthouse Point hype?
I've never stayed at CP, except for one time at the Breakers.
Honestly, I've always thought they just look like a trailer. So what's so great about them? I am asking simply because I don't know.
Kind of reminds me of those people who talk about their "cottage at the lake" and you get there, and it's a mobile home. (NO offense to any of you who may live in a trailer...or have a "cottage at the lake")
No kids running down the hall, room for four, nice view, place to grill and drink... those are some of my reasons.

Jeff hit it on the head.
You combine that with location, and its worth it.
I'm giving bayshore a shot a couple of weekends this fall, but that's due to money. I'm planning to try for LHP for closing weekend.

Yeah, Jeff (& John) got it. And its not terribly expensive, when you consider you can cook your own food, rather than eating overpriced crap. And that's not even considering the health factor, which is fairly significant to me.

If it's 3 am in the afternoon, I've got a real problem.

I believe this is where Mr. Scott would chime in and mention that the best way to understand why LHP is great would be to stay there.

I like the Breakers the best. I guess it's just tradition. It wouldn't be CP without the stay at the Breakers.
Wow, I've never seen so many people love on Jeff before ;)
LHP is a very nice place that we tried on opening weekend after many endorsements from Mr. Scott. We like Breakers best, but we will always stay there when we let the boys bring friends up as it was a great place for everyone to have their own "space" unlike a room in a hotel. (Parents in bedroom, smaller kids in loft, older kids on futons in living area)

Yeah, I can see where kids running up and down a hallway at 3 am would be frustrating, but, WHERE are their parents?? Do their parents allow this??
At 3 am, everyone in my family is sleeping, esp. after being at an amusement park.
Thanks for the tips everyone. Maybe if CF ever gives out coupons again for hotel stays to their stockholders, I will check it out.
Oh, one more question...do the beds have sheets and blankets on them already? If so, that would be a major deterrent for me to stay there.
Hotels are gross. Studies have shown that many times the sheets are not changed between visitors, and the blankets/bedspreads are only washed 4 times a year! EWWWWW!
How many people have walked out of that shower naked and sat on the bed to watch TV? Probably most.
These were hotels/motels of all kinds that were studied. Didn't matter how much you paid. I don't suppose CP would be any different.
I Have a Question? Do you think that by tuesday it would be to late to reserve a room because they are all sold out. I plan on going saturday and it is labour day weekend. Just wondering.

If you are going on Saturday of Labor Day weekend, you were probably out of luck weeks ago. Someone I know was trying to reserve a spot at Camper Village a while back, and every Friday-Sunday was booked solid until after Halloweekends started. I imagine the hotels are similar.

Well it really doesnt matter were we stay as long as its not a complete dive! I would love to stay at a CedarPoint hotel, or any of the water park resorts but the problem is you have to be 21 to resereve the room along with many others like the Hampton inn and Comfort inn. I was just wondering if they would all be sold out around the CedarPoint area?

Odds are you can find something in the area. The only area hotel I've ever stayed at around there was the Microtel on Rye Beach Rd. in Huron. They were alright, and I know they allowed 18 year olds to get rooms. I'm sure the more experienced hotel goers can offer better advice.
