When I was in my last year of 8th grade, when Magnum was new, I promised my Dad good grades if he would take me there. I didn't necessarily get good grades, but I did manige how to make my own report card...and also some other peoples. (Did get bustted after tthe fact ) He did take me.....in August when Magnum was about a 4 hour wait... I've been there numerous time every yeay and met many, many great people Havent' been there in about 2 years. Can't wait to be back! By the way, to drink beer in line...get a soda cup!!! JK!
Love these threads....:)
I have done so many things at CP I forgot where to start....
But I'll choose this one..
In line for dragster on opening day this year me and my friend were in line about halfway....past the soda machines, and this one tall "cool" dude with shaded sunglasses line jumps the whole set of queues we waited in to get his place back. He was with his girlfriend and my friend, who used to work at CP, started yelling at him for line jumping. Everyone else agreed with us because they all saw him, obviously. So the dude doesnt say anything, but the girl started swearing like a maniac and my friend called the cops. they came and attempted to remove the guy only, but the girl was swearing so much there were moms holding their hands over their kids' ears! literally. The cops had to escort the girl too because she was swearing so much. So they both left and the whole line started clapping for us :)
After my first trip to Cedar Point (I went with school), I talked about it so much over the summer to my parents that they ended up taking us for Halloweekends. Which isn't really that big of a deal, but it was for my family because we didn't have much money for family trips. So taking any trip was a big deal, let alone a trip of my choice.
"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"
I walked through the main midway fountain during morning ERT fulled dressed this season. I was a little bummed that Shoot The Rapids had that delayed opening, you understand. I didn't think I'd get THAT wet. Very dumb. :)
Edit: this post has nothing at all to do with the topic at hand. Sorry!
Skipped work when i was getting paid over time!!!!!and that is a WHOLE lot of money for me to miss but you know what!!! the time i had was priceless.
Me and my brother and a warm sunny opening day and not having my wife and his girlfriend around!
Being a Ride Warrior is just not a job!
It's a way of life!!!
I have ridden the all the coasters at K.I. and C.P. that i have lost count!!!!! and it is not the amount of times i have ridden, it is just the joy of riding them for me!!!!
When I was 18 I didn't tell my mom I was going to Cedar Point to meet my boyfriend at the time. He was there at 3 a.m. just to meet me when I got there at 10 a.m... luckily he WAS there because the group of "friends" I came with ditched my best friend and I, we ended up taking a ride back to the hotel with my boyfriend, if it wasn't for him we would have been stranded and had to call a cab.. that would have been very costly because the hotel was at least 30 miles away.
My mom found out my boyfriend went, she didn't get too angry but my best friend's mom was pissed.. lol.
Man oh man, I fought so hard to come to Cedar Point. I thought it would be hopeless since I live in California, but I did it. And all it took was a really big tantrum. I was going to be dragged somewhere I really did NOT want to go, Las Vegas on Memorial Day Weekend. I complained and complained so my mother said if I just shut up and enjoyed my time there, she'd take me to Ohio. I got my wish. Haha.
I had the greatest time EVER. I stayed for about four days and experienced two things in Ohio and at Cedar Point that are burned into my memory forever. First off, Cedar Point really pwns my home park which is Six Flags Magic Mountain. Second, oh the humidity! It's dry here. Really dry.
Now all I have to do to be able to return to Cedar Point again is get good grades, and boy I'm doing pretty good. ;D
lol........I read the thread title wrong....I thought it said "At cedar point"
^corkscrew headache, everyone knows the reason STR was delayed was because the hillbillies were still feuding over moonshine!
Called off work to go to Maverick's opening day since I was a Red Cross First Rider...got fired a week later for calling off since I lied about why I was calling off work... haha job was horrible anyway.
Terror Island Screamster 08', 09', 10', 11'
Well don't I feel like an idiot! I misread the title of this thread too.
I wish my parents would have caved to complaining. Complaining and complaining would have just meant not going anywhere. Especially across the country to an amusement park.
It can be a double-edged sword sometimes. It works for me sometimes since I'm the only child, but in the end, karma got me back for throwing such a fit. Haha. It was worth it though...
I never really begged to go, it just came up back in 1998....
We were camping with my family and they told us cedar point is nearby and you guys will like it......thats it.
so went for starlight admission and i was scared of the bigger coasters, all I remember is riding flat rides and seeing the lazer show @ night. We weren't there for long, just enough for me to see the place. I did ride corkscrew, though....
We went to school on senior skip day to make the teachers think we were the good kids, then proceeded to skip the next day to make the 3 hour drive down to CP. It was a great time, especially since we got to show my exchange student friend from Germany how Amurrrrrrricans do coasters. It being a Wednesday in May with no lines made the trip enjoyable as well.
My now husband and I were 17 at the time and we decided to go. My sister and her boyfriend were also going, but all we each had to drive were two seated pick up trucks. So we took the two trucks and caravaned down. I was driving just a few miles from where we lived when we came to a red light. I accidently popped the clutch at a light and the truck stalled. The truck would not restart! We pushed it off the road and tried to figure out what was wrong with it.
I don't remember how but we figured out it was the battery. We push started the truck and got it running again. We drove down (3 hours). We stopped to get gas and had to push start again at the gas station. At the end of the night we had to wait for the lot to clear out a bit and we push started again to make it home.
Probably not something we would have done if we didn't have the other truck behind us, but it was well worth it and none of us were gonna miss that trip.
It ended up that the battery cable had to be replaced. Something we could have easily taken care of before we left if we had taken the time, but we were all too excited to get on the road.
I don't have any cool stories about cool things I did to get to Cedar Point.
I guess working there is crazy enough, haha :)
When I was a kid, I wanted to go every year, but NO was final, and there was no arguing about it. My mom wouldn't be swayed by -anything-. Nonetheless, we still made a yearly pilgrimage out to the Point from when I was about 12 to 17, and I would go with friends more. One year, we had an extra ticket, and I called about 20 friends to see if they wanted to join me the following day. I never thought it would actually be -difficult- to give away a FREE TICKET. I eventually got a friend to join me, but it was almost an inconvenience on her part. By the time we got there, though, she was excited though :D
