What would you consider the most reliable coaster?

I know that all rides have their downtime but I think one
of the most reliable coatsers would have to be Iron
Dragon. I cannot remember the last time I have seen that
ride down for mechanical reasons and with a short wait
but always a constant stream of guests, it is quite a
perfectly timed people eater.

Well The Iron Dragon Has Had Its Fair Share Of Down Time When it first opened.but you are right it is usually open and is in working order. all the years i have bein there it has never bein closed even when it was raining.
Also you have to say the Corkscrew is just as reliable i have never seen that one down either and i have seen it ran in the rain(when thay use to run the rides in the rain)and the mine ride too.those three are usually are always running, the have bein around awhile so thay have go ALL the bugs Worked of them!!!!!!!!LOL!

Iron Dragon went down due to maintenance last Thursday...

I've never once heard of the CCMR being closed for maintenance.

Yeah, but occasionally, the train gets stuck on one of the lift hills. I was there when it was doing it every other ride or so.

But, rarely do we hear anything about Woodstock Express.

What about Raptor? How has its track record been?

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

Any of the Arrow coasters, any of the B&M coasters, heck the two wooden coasters usually don't have a problem. That only leaves coasters from one brand doesn't it? Im sure its just a coincidence that the coasters with the most down time are all from the same company ;).

I know exactly what your saying touchdown . the last time i was at the point , this summer, all four of the intamins went down throughout the day. Maverick actually went down while we were on it ,and was down for three days after.we went to park ops and complained and actually got a fast pass on TTD ,MF ,and WT . it was great walkin up the exit past all the people in line and gettin right on the rides.

As far as reliable coaster DT doesnt look like its ever had maintnence ,from its apearance, of course what could go wrong it pretty much just rolls down a slide,,, besides the fact it looks like crap . but thats just speculation on my part , i havent riden it enough to know about its down time

I would say Magnum-xl-200 is the most reliable coaster. Iron Dragon, CCMR, Corkscrew, and even Gemini is pretty reliable. Intamins are always are the worst. With Arrows coasters, it is usually a problem with the train so you can usually have at least one train running on the ride.

I would say Gemini or Mean Streak.

I would say Millennium Force is the most reliable coaster at Cedar Point. Every trip I've been on, Millennium Force is always running. :)

^Except for that whole catch car incident.;)

My pic is obviously Dragster for how well they have improved in keeping her running strong.

When I worked on the Mine Ride in 2006 we closed early due to high water... The low point of the helix was flooded. I was one of the two that test rode Cedar Creek Water Mine Ride haha!!! When we hit the water it splashed some people sitting on the other side of the fence!!! They werent expecting it!!! Classic!!! A couple other things happened on that ride which i cant share on here...

Except for the accident last season Magnum has been pretty reliable in my opinion.

Oops, you're right. It didn't seem like that long ago. I noticed last week that they were slowing it down again right after the last tunnel.

The Intamins may have more down time, but that is what happens when you push the limit. This is why most of our favorite coasters are from Intamins.

How Gemini? Most of the time only one side is running. I'v even seen it on busy days.

My vote goes to Blue Streak.

Thank you for that vote of confidence. :)

As much as I like to joke that we were more reliable than Raptor, it also got on my nerves sometimes because I knew there was pretty much no chance we would ever have mechanical downtime to take a break and clean for a bit. Weather downtime on the other hand, especially after the Magnum incident...well I think we all remember the weather issues. ;)

I would guess that my summer at Blue Streak (07), we were down maybe a total of 6 hours mechanical from June-August, if that, even. And 4 of those came on one day.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Why does everyone give Intamin a hard time? They make great coasters. The only real unreliable coaster is Top Thrill. Which has gotten a lot better this year. If anyone should complain about manufacturers it should be the two overrated B&Ms we have, I'm sorry but Raptor is only fun ride in the front seat. If you are not in the front you will get your head smashed through out the entire ride. I'm surprised that so many people like this ride. And I'm just going skip the rant about Mantis...

Don't get me wrong B&M has plenty of great rides, just none at Cedar Point.
