What would CP do with an airport?

There was an interesting article in today's Sandusky Register about Griffing Services airport, located on Rt. 6 down the road from Cedar Point. Near the end of the article, they dispelled rumors of talking with Cedar Point about selling their property, but also said there is a possibility of selling "if someone made the right offer"

This is a huge chunk of land, on a major road, right across the bay from Cedar Point.

So, the topic of discussion is: Do you think Cedar Point would be interested in the property and if they were, what do you think they would do with it?

ohh, the usual......a possible 3rd gate, a parking lot, with connecting monorail, or more resorts. I would say a nightlife area, but I think that would be a little out of the way for all the resort guests to go to. If they did that, they would need to put that on the peninsula.

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago when I was at the airport:

Why not make a road just for Cedar Point customers? It could start at the current site of Griffen-Sandusky Airport and heads north towards the bay. Then the road could head west along the bay and connect up with Cedar Point Causeway near Commons and Bayside. This would help the flow of traffic and keep all people coming from the east to Cedar Point, off of the city streets. Also this land could serve as a warehouses, offices, more hotels, and maybe a overflow parking lot.

It would be a cool night area...

Right now I am playing around with Microsoft's Map program... and later today I will post a map of the area for people who don't know the area.

I could see a third gate, warehouses and other corporate facilities.. additional hotels... a relocated Camper Village... not a road I think, a little too serious of an infrastructure investment...

I could see more resorts, if a ferry service were offered of course (if I'm understanding the location more or less), but not warehouses - what if the material in those warehouses were needed quickly? A parking garage would be a good investment, freeing up a lot of space on the peninsula itself when it becomes necessary in the future. Corporate offices, the information center, administrative stuff like that would be able to relocate with ease.

Its obvious, I heard "rumors" about CP buying the airport last year.  Included in the rumor was that with the airport being so close the park couldn't build anything over 400ft.  So why not buy the airport, level it, and then they would have no height limits.

Aren't rumors funny.

I don't see it happening... CP has their eyes set on some smaller property near the causeway that they want and have been after for a while. The airport area seems to far away...

As far as warehouse space.. the one down the street from Commons is pretty good.. their response times are ok.. I can't see puttin git farther away than that. Of course.. it's stuffed animals and stuff like that.. foods is on the point.
