What was new on Disaster Transport this year?

I didn't make it to CP this season but I heard that the Disaster Transport had a little freshening. Can anyone tell me what the changes were? I have heard some people bash the ride for being to mellow, too short and just not exciting enough. But personally I think that it is one of the better rides in the park. Actualy it is one of my favorites. But I have noticed that it has been kind of neglected in the past say 5 or 6 seasons. So when I heard it recieved some upgrades I kind of got excited.

It looks really nice from what I saw. Nothing like it was in the beginning but it looks good. The queues are the only thing that got a fresh coat of paint, not the actual ride. The paint that they used is the kind that glows when a black light is on. Overall it really looks good and I was happy to see it.

To be a little more detailed....

They cleaned up the second queue room and added a "High Voltage" area with what looks like a power source from a 1950's sci fi show, which is pretty much lights and buzzing noises. Lots of glow in the dark paint on the walls and floors, hand prints, stripes, dots (don't quite know how they fit into any theme) They still have the moving baskets above, and a painted "warehouse" area.

As for the ride itself, the turned off all lights with the exception of a star field in the main room where the "explosion" used to be. IMO, that's the best improvement...not seeing the non-working equipment anymore.

The transport in the Repair Bay (behind the gate) was also being "worked on". The robotic arms moved back and forth with stobe light 'sparks' coming off the train.

I dont understand why after spending all that money on the props they just let it get as bad as it did. It seemed like every season there were less and less non working items that were blatantly obvious. And from what I have heard this is one the most visited attractions in the park so shouldnt they try their best to keep it up?
I though the blacklight carpet was pretty cool.

Also, they were selling 3-D type glasses in the first room... Did anyone actually buy these? Did they do anything for the ride?

I worked at DT this year. Having never visited before, I couldn't tell you the difference between what was new this year from the last. Everything was new to me.

However, the 3d glasses did ok when I was there. I frequently talked to the girl who sold them and with the numbers she talked about based on the final number of guests on the turnstyle, I would say 1/3 of the guests would buy them. Of course it was always a big task to pick them up on the troft or below it at the end of the day.

The glasses were most effective for the lines I believe. The ride itself didn't have much use for the glasses except the lift and when entering the unload station.

They also sold the glasses for the haunted houses. Which is part of the DT 2nd room.

~~~From Homer Simpson:
"For once, somebody may call me 'Sir' without adding, '...you're making a scene.'"
Everyone in my group bought a pair of those 3-D glasses and they were cool while you were waiting in line. On the ride they didn't do much because most of the ride was in complete darkness. $1 well spent!
"Twisted Sister" is the name of the new rollercoaster at Cedar Point for 2003. Just watch!
