I am not interested in rumors or "predictions" for next weeks announcement. My question is....How will it impact the activity in the park?
We are heading to Cedar Point for 3 nights next week to celebrate my sons birthday (his birthday wish is to ride the Top Thrill Dragster if he is tall enough this year) and our trip happens to overlap the "announcement".
I just noticed that Hotel Breaks is either sold out or only has a few rooms available on Monday and Tuesday night. So I am just wondering if the "announcement" will cause a significant uptick in the crowds during mid-week.
We aren't really interested in the media circus surrounding the events. I just want to find out a little bit more about it so that we know what to expect and if there are any areas we should avoid.
Thanks!
Crowds should be thinning out starting next week. Many schools in northern Ohio start next week, some maybe even this week. Can't say for sure what impact the announcement will cause on attendance, but avoid Celebration Plaza, the stage in front of Iron Dragon since that's where the announcement will be taking place.

I would expect very minimal impact. Most people going to the park won't have any idea there is an announcement. Plus, the announcement is happening at 9pm, when many people have already left or are getting ready to leave.
Luminosity doesn't perform on Tuesdays, so really this announcement is just taking its place. I would expect the crowd to be less than for a typical Luminosity show.

Thank you Brian and Chuck! A big thanks for the location of the announcement as I wasn't sure where it would be. We will be sure to steer clear of that area that evening.
I had thought that the announcement wouldn't have much of an impact, but I was surprised to see the limited availability at Hotel Breakers when I went on to see about extending our stay for a day.
My son had a blast last year at CP for his birthday and we hope to make this a tradition and get some good rides in!
Yeah I'm making my yearly trip tomorrow (Living in Carolina doesn't let me get to the park very often) and I just found out that several private schools in Ohio already started school this week. I would absolutely hate if I had to start on August 10th, but hopefully it thins the crowds out a tiny bit.
The most dangerous enemy is the one you don't know you have.
The district I work for is supposed to go back the 19th but I haven't recieved a building or student assignment yet and the not so mature part of me is hoping for maybe a week or two on the sub list before they decide where they need me permanently. My own kids don't go back to school until September this year and I would really like to take advantage of those days.
