What to do?

My wife & I are taking our kids to Great Wolf Lodge on the 30th and CP on the 31st like we do every year. Here is my problem, I need to go to CP NOW. I want to ditch work and go next Tuesday but my wife and kids can't go then. I am looking for someone to tell me that I am not being a selfish pig and that this is what they would do and I figured this was the right place for it.

Download the iPod and gas the car.

Go for it. I don't think you are being selfish at all. If they can't go, nothing wrong with going yourself! It's not like you are denying them something they can do, they can't go, so don't let that hold you back!

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Just go. They are still going to go as planned so there shouldn't be a problem. I had plans for opening day with 3 other people and they all can't go now so you better belive I'm going by myself. I'll go again with them at another time.

Thanks for the replys everyone. I only got to go once last year and it has been bothering me all winter. I just can't handle the thought of waiting 4 more weeks to go. Hope Dragster will be up!

im 8 hours away and tempted to do the same thing. 8 hours there, 8 hours in the park, 8 hours back, sounds like a fun day to me!!! if it werent for gas prices, id pack a cooler and be on my way.

I can't help but think that there will not be too many people there on that day (tuesday after opening weekend). Hope to get in many reps on the big ones.

Don't feel guilty about going by yourself. Roughly 1/3 of my visits are by myself. It is a completely different experience than going with a group or even one other person. The problem with a group is that you fall into the "what do you want to do next" trap, and pretty soon you are not doing anything but walking around aimlessly. Going solo means you do exactly what you want to do. Want to ride the Magnum 12 times in a row? No problem. Want to ride the Wildcat - sure why not. Don't get me wrong, it is fun going with other people, its just a different kind of fun.

The only problem I have with going alone is that the drive home becomes quite painful. Thats when all of the bruises, exhausted muscles, and pain show up after a hard day of riding.

I just wish you were not going on Tuesday because that means 1 more person in the park that will be trying to get ahead of me in line! I should be wearing my 'Buzzer shirt personalized with my screen name. Holler if you see me.

I'll keep an eye on the people in line behind me. I hear you on doing what you want. When we take our kids we try to make it as great for them as we can so we focus on the rides they can ride on. They are just passing the 48" barrier and riding the bigger rides but there is still alot of CP&LE, scrambler and those types of rides. We have great fun on those but sometimes I just want to do TTD, MF, PT & Raptor over & over again.

Man you guys are killing me. I don't get to go till June 16thy, for my son's 8th grade trip. :{ It sure has been a long time since Hollow weekends.

First trip June 23rd

I feel for you but I havn't been since last June. I have also been going to CP for over thirty years. My parents would take us every year. That why we always take the kids. My son rode demon drop & gemini for the first time last year. This year he keeps asking if he can go on TTD & MF. I told him yes but my wife says no. She will lose on this one.

Oh ya, she has to lose, lol. My kids are 14 and 12 and have been going to the point since 1998. They have always ridden the rides as soon as they were tall enough. My 14 year old son and I have ridden mf 18 times together. We rode Dragster together on both of our first rides that season.

I wish I could just pick up and go like that. I haven't been since October 23, and I will be going May 23, exactly 7 months in between.. that's strange, I didn't plan that. The problem is I go with school so we take buses and we leave the park at 7, an hour before closing. I'm assuming they do that to avoid the rush of everyone leaving at closing. Oh well, it's 2 weeks from Monday!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I'll be there Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed. Monday with a group of friends, Tues solo, Wed with one friend. Look for me. I'll be the one who doesn't have to hear "aw, do we have to ride that again?", or "I'm not going on that", or "isn't that your 3rd french fries today?" Yep there's a lot of advantage to going to C.P. solo. I say definitely go for it.

Tues calls for chance of rain- surely keep the attendance down!

I'm the oldest one here. CP emp '73-'74

I am really starting to get pumped! Now that you mention food I am looking foward to a big cheeseburger, an elephant ear, fried cheese on a stick and any thing else I feel like eating. I was thinking the same thing about the weather. Hope the forcast stays the same but we never see the rain.

Going solo is the best way to go to Cedar Point. I went two days straight solo and those I kid you not were the best two days of my life.

101 on Magnum and counting...

"Going solo is the best way to go to Cedar Point. I went two days straight solo and those I kid you not were the best two days of my life."

I COMPLETELY agree. Going solo to Cedar Point is amazing, you make all the choices and enjoy all the rides you want in the order you want. If I were you, I would go on Tuesday. CP is the best place in the world.

I decided to go to Cedar Point out of the blue and I live in Florida. I know it's a kinda crazy drive but ITS WORTH EVERY MINUTE.

Just go and post a Trip Report. I'd love to read that more than the drivel that this thread has become.
