What the Heck is behind Mean Streak?

Yesterday I went up to the park to get my "first" season pass. After I was done there I went and drove over to Light House Point, Guess what a saw the remains of VertIgo. If this is old new then ok I just have not been on here in a while. Also if this is new news than kool. last If anybody knows why it is there please tell me kuz that ride was one of the funnest last year and I just would like to know why it is still there.

thank you.

During the off-season this past winter, wind sheer (at least that's the last I heard on it), forced a small crack in the ride to develop and snapped off one of the towers at about the 65 foot mark. Most people say it was because the cables were taken off, but I just don't see how that would have affected it. After several weeks of deciding what to do, CF decided to pull the attraction from all of its parks, stating safety concerns as a major factor in their decision. Public perception was also another reason. As far as I'm guessing, the ride should be gone or at least hidden by opening day. What a shame, cuz it was an awesome ride.

Yes I know all about how the Great ride broke I was just wondering on why the one only tower is behind MS and why the " ride piece" is in a plastic bubble?

Without the cable, the tower had more freedom of movement, and in the process moved further than it was designed to.

Could be they are going to sell the remaining pieces to another park. I guess you have two good towers and a ride vehicle so it would be pretty cheap if someone else wanted to build one.

Maybe it can go up the road to SFWoA since they are choosing to keep the MM one up and running.

Ok Jeff, I can see that now. I wasn't thinking of the ride design when I wrote that, but it does make sense now.

it was designed to sway within a certain range Brian with the cables attached without harm to the supports..Without the cables it exceeded its design sway range and the pressure on the supports proved to be too much!

It's sitting there waiting for me to pick up. ok maybe not. Chief Wahoo: I doubt the towers are going to any other park. If one cracked and fell there is reason to believe the others may be damaged, whether they look like it or not.

On Thursday when my friend and I were at the Point to get our passes we drove back there. I was in awe of the large peices sitting there. I have several pictures of it disasembled and laying there, I will try to post them soon.

Be careful - someone else had some pictures of the towers sitting there and the pictures *mysteriously* disappeared a few days later...

Edit: Sorry for the grammer error! :)
