Yes,if you remember the designer renderings of Maverick, there was a whole lot more to it than what was ultimately built. Was it the design team's pipe dream or was it Dick Kinzel's aversion to anything being themed too much? Maybe a little of both, but knowing what Robert Munger's attitude about theming was, and that DK followed that train of thought as well, I'd say that corporate over rode what the park's management wanted (remember, DK didn't manage CP, although most people that worked there would argue that point.)
I'm pleased with the direction the park has gone with theming recently. And you know, StR may suck as a ride, but clearly more than a little thought and money went into theming the attraction. I'd like to see the park follow through by beefing up rides that are sorely deficient in this department. Bring back the roof for Calypso. How about some of the details that got cut from the initial presentations for Maverick? It's been nice to see the retroactive love given to older rides--Magnum's new sign, LED lighting packages for Blue Streak, Giant Wheel and others for example.

Calypso - restore the roofs it used to have and spiff it up in general. Move it onto the WT midway near where Chaos/Rotor/Schwabinchen used to be. Move a different ride to its former spot - something old-school so it fits in with Blue Streak, open on all sides so riders can enjoy the marina view (Scrambler would look great there).
Just say no to trims
I really wish they would finish theming on Maverick, see this video. And if only we could have that heart line roll back .:(
