What ride absolutley terrifies you?

Has anyone here tried SlingShot yet? I almost tried it a couple times last year, but it wasn't just the extra cost that made me balk- it was watching it launch a few times. It looks both really really fun and really really absolutely terrifying at the same time.

Yes, it looks terrifying but when you are actually on the ride it is a lot of fun. I rode it at night, so that made the height a little less obvious, a daytime ride would probably be on the scarier side if you don't like being suspended in high places.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Power Tower turbo drop, maXair, and Skyhawk all scare the crap out of me. But know what really gets me shaking? Skyride. I'm convinced the car is gonna drop off the cable. The display at HalloWeekends doesn't help... And the weird part is I'm a skier during the winter and use the ski lifts with no problem, even when they stop and go or start swaying in the wind.

In general, anything that is only attached by ropes or cables, and its high enough off the ground that if these cables or ropes snap you will go splat. If its attached to a track, or a rigid structure it doesn't bother me at all how high or crazy the ride is. I guess I have little faith in ropes and cables, LOL!

I'm convinced that the Maxair disc of seats will snap off and toss riders into the lake. It feels inevitable every time I ride and the panic inducing restraints don't help matters.

I imagine that a 400' star flyer (hanging and spinning on a chain) would scare the living crap out of me. And I would love it :)

I know Demon Drop is no longer at Cedar Point, but I was always terrified of that ride. I had an irrational fear that it would drop, the breaks will fail and the car will slide off of the ride.

I have a fear of Power Tower, especially the drop side and Giant Wheel (both because of the height thing). However, I can do SkyRide no problem. I get terrified of Top Thrill Dragster, because of the launch.

So out of curiosity, for those of you (like ShaneDenmark, Smiley, August, etc..) who do get terrified of certain rides, are you able to find a way to put that fear on a shelf and ride anyway? Or is the fear so intense that it actually prevents you from riding?

I will ride Dragster, Power Tower and Giant Wheel, but not very often. I worked at Cedar Point for multiple summers, and I would only ride these rides a few times throughout the entire summer. I'm able to ride these certain rides, because I know the rides are completely safe.

SkyHawk and definitely Sling Shot scare me, and haven't ridden either yet lol! As asked previous by KevinJ, I put my fear 'away'(aside) because of determination! I watched what other people were enjoying-and wanted in on the excitement. I revisited CP in 2012, after not being there for 16 years. It was a shocker! I still didn't ride MF or TTD until 2013 season. For me, one ride on both made me an addict of sorts! So every season since, my daughter & I chose one "new to us" ride that scares us and conquers it. We might not enjoy it, but we tried. This year, it's Sling Shot, so it's a shame Fun Pix can't(won't?) include on-ride videos-because I'd like to see/hear my profanities & facial expressions afterwards for the fun of it!

I don't think it's included in FunPix, but you CAN buy yourself a DVD of your SlingShot launch. If you're into watching yourself screaming in abject terror. XP

Proud 5th Liner and CP fan since 1986.

KevinJ-
It's not a crippling, paralyzingly fear. I still ride Skyhawk, maXair, etc but it's more of a white knuckle, ohmygodwereallgonnadie, stomach churning mind of thrill as opposed to an adrenaline rush on the roller coasters. As for Sky Ride, I still ride that because my wife and son love it. I just hold on and grin & bear it. I'm fine for most of the ride except when the cart shakes as it passes over the cable rollers.

My mother also disliked Sky Ride, but my father made her ride it. She disliked it for the same reasons, as it's not the normal 'feel' of motion like other rides she liked. The Giant Wheel was my fear as a child. At 10years old I was asked(by my Dad on a windy day), what would happen if the wheel broke off and rolled into the water !! Uh-we'd die/ drown I silently thought to myself. My Dad forced me to ride everything with him, as the siblings & Mom went and did what they wanted, and left me as his forced ride buddy, lol! Nobody got harmed, and I kept right along riding anything & everything. I owe him great thanks for giving me my fascination & love of amusement rides and roller coasters that I now share with my kid! But it also taught me to be determined in most life aspects-fear is OK, attempting to tackle fear is success!

Keep passing the fun along!

Kevinj, I had that problem as a kid. As I grew older I put certain rides like Magnum on the shelf and didn't let my fear of heights bother me. However if there's ever an evacuation, my fear of heights would kick in.
