What Makes Cedar Point the Best

Hey everyone its me, I have a question to ask. So I am from Utah and I have never been to Cedar Point however I have a neighbor who is from northern Ohio and has been to Cedar Point many times, he has told me many stories about his trips to the park so one day I asked him what makes Cedar Point the best amusement park that he's ever been to and his response was the rides they have more then anywhere else. So now I want to ask everyone on here nationwide or worldwide what makes Cedar Point the best amusement park and why?

Location, for sure. There's nothing like driving across the causeway towards that epic skyline of coasters.

And there's the coasters. From classic wood coasters like Blue Streak to epic steel coasters like Raptor and GateKeeper, Cedar Point has a great collection of coasters.

And there are few things so wonderful as sitting under the Sky Ride on the Midway enjoying french fries slathered with chili and cheese sauce.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

I live in Hamburg,New York and I have a season pass for Cedar Point. I only live 40 minutes from Darian Lake and I can't remember when I was there last. Cedar Point has everything you could want. That's why I love Cedar Point.

Location, variety of coasters and rides, the beaçh, sunsets, sunrises (lakeview suite at the breakers), the view approaching the park on the causeway, the view from Battery Park, driving back to route 6 by way of the Chausse on a sunny morning, close proximity to other North Coast attractions, such as Put- In-Bay, and, for, me, the fact that the world's best amusement park is only an hour's drive away.

The cool breeze off the lake on a hot day. The shimmering expanse of water to your left as you climb up Gatekeeper's hill. The scent of sweets outside the Sweet Spot, the sinfully delicious indulgence of fried cheese. Corkscrew arcing over the midway in a blue twist. The everpresent sound of chain lift clicks and delighted screams. The skyline of crested hills in red and blue and green and orange. Digging your toes in the sand. Dancing at Luminosity at night just before you go home/back to the hotel.

Cedar Point is an EXPERIENCE. Come on over this summer, you won't be disappointed. :D

I first went to Cedar Point in 2014 because I was drawn to its reputation for having the best collection of coasters in the world. I arrived and stayed in the Campground. Throughout my stay, I truly was given the Best Day by the staff. The majority of associates I encountered were friendly, enthusiastic, and even genuinely passionate about what they did. They are in my mind what gives the park its spark. It is for that reason, that I have not only returned to Cedar Point but have joined the ranks of those very same associates who gave me my Best Day. I am honored to be returning for my second season likely of many more to give all that I can so that everybody I encounter can have that same experience that makes Cedar Point the best in the world for me.

I'm also 40 minutes from Darien Lake but in the other direction (Rochester, NY)... Darien Lake curbs my addiction until I can get to Cedar Point.

What makes CP the greatest? The skyline as you approach from the causeway. The Peanuts gang greeting my son throughout the park and the look on his face. Hearing TTD from anywhere in the park and looking up to see it crest the hill. Walking the Frontier Trail after the park has closed and you caught the last ride on Millennium Force or Magnum. My son marathoning Iron Dragon. HalloWeekends (although I would really like to get back to the HAUNT portion!). The beach and the lake surrounding the park. But what makes Cedar Point not just the best park but the best PLACE anywhere for me, is that when I'm there I feel the weight of the world and life's responsibilities lifted off my shoulders. Don't know what it is, just being there makes me happy.

Seeing the skyline as you drive across the causeway is just as awesome as being in the park to me. It just sends chills down my spine.

2018- Raptor

CP Top 5- 1)MF 2) Maverick 3) Gatekeeper 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor

Location, atmosphere, and ride varieties.

The beach alone is worth the visit. The reputation Lake Erie has is completely forgotten once I step foot on Cedar Point's beach.

Once you step through the gates, the smell of food, the sounds of rides, the laughter and park structure, and lastly...the cleanliness of the park.

In terms of rides, what Six Flags has spread throughout their parks, Cedar Point has in one location and then some.

As my son once said, "The smell of sunscreen and roller coaster grease!" LOL Seriously, it's what everyone has already said. I've been to CP more times than I can count, and I still get excited when I get my first view of the skyline driving in. It's the sounds, the smells, the screams, the breeze, the lake, the beach. It's memories that get made, and then built upon visit after visit. It's the coasters, but not just the number of coasters. It's that CP has such a wide variety of coasters, and so many of them were ground-breaking in nature when they were built. It's the large number of good other rides. I go to other parks, and all I sometimes ride are the coasters. CP has many other things to ride and do from the tame (CP&LE Railroad) to the thrilling (Maxair). It's watching the sunset across the bay. It's starting for home and having your kids pass out in the back seat before you get out of Sandusky because they've had so much fun. All that and more.

I don't know if anyone will agree with me, but I would say the extreme weather cedar point can have (or sometimes quite normal weather). I'm talking about the sweltering 90 degree days with high humidity, extremely windy days like october last year, or the freezing cold days during halloweekends. I don't know, I just enjoy days like that watching people react even though I suffer myself.

The first sight of the park as your driving on the causeway is epic. But for me it's driving past that to the hotel and underneath Millenium as it's testing. It is awesome driving down perimeter road. And then looking out the hotel windows at the park during your stay whether the park is open or before. For me it is being there for more than just a day. It is just as epic to me leaving after staying for a night or 2 because we've had our fun and the park is in full operation. We usually leave around mid day. Such a beautiful place.

I have loved reading what everyone else said, it makes me so excited for my next trip! I agree with a lot of what's already been said. There is just a feeling that I have the entire time I'm there. I always stay at Breakers Express and from checking in, to waking up early and planning for the weather that day (from bitter, rainy, and windy to sunny and smoldering), the breathtaking drive up the causeway, driving Perimeter road and seeing the rides testing, deciding where to start the day, deciding what to do next, the final, exhausted walk out of the park... I drive 6 hours each way twice a year (I wish it could be more!) just to have the whole experience!

One if the best things about cedarpoint for me is the perimeter drive to Hotel Breakers knowing we get to spend 4 days in the sun, on the beach and enjoy all of the amazing sights, sounds and smells cedar point has to offer.

My stance is similar to GDUBS as a ride host. Waking up at Cedars every morning right across the street from the park, hearing the rides waking up as I'm on my way to get breakfast still gets me excited. Throughout the day there's no feeling of a job well done quite like making people laugh with a corny joke, or cheering up a scared kid, to seeing the smiles and enjoyment on all the guests faces.

The beautiful skyline of roller coasters! That's what I enjoy when I'm riding one of Cedar Point's roller coasters is looking out on the horizon and seeing a beautiful display of what has been created from the past and present.

What XS said. Especially what with the amazing improvements to the Breakers- really, it's like a brand new hotel- there's nothing like spending a day riding coasters, trekking back to your room after Luminosity, taking a nice long shower, going to bed, and waking up the next morning to the sound of coaster testing. Being able to go back and take a break throughout the day if need be, not having to lug your stuff around all day, relax your sore tired tootsies in the hot tub for a while.

It's so great. I can't wait for August. :D

For me, it's the complete experience. As a kid, there was nothing like driving up the causeway and seeing the park testing. You literally get chills and become overwhelmed with excitement. Inside the park, the ride collection is just amazing. I've been to quite a few parks and Cedar Point by far has the best collection out of those that I've been to. Although, I'm guessing Magic Mountain compares, but I won't know until next year.

Now that I'm an adult, the whole Sandusky experience is worth the trip in the summer time. My wife and I typically check out other things in the area the night before we go to the park. We're from Pittsburgh and season pass holders so we end up spending a lot of time there in the summer. One thing you cannot miss is sitting out on the deck of Thirsty pony at night when Rain is open. If you are old enough to have a family, it's pretty exciting to sit there the night before you go to the park and get your kids all amped up for the rides.
