What is up with Breakwater Cafe?

Has anyone else had an extremely bad experience at the Breakwater Cafe lately?

I took my parents up there for their anniversary dinner last night (Sat June 9), and we had the worst experience we've ever had at the Point.

It was about 8:30 and the restaurant was nearly empty. After waiting 10 minutes before the hostess decided to ask how many were in our party, she huffed when we asked if we could sit where we could look out the window (since the place was almost empty). We were also informed that the air conditioning had been broken all day.

The waiter who finally visited our table did so out of his own interest, as apparently no one had "been assigned" to the table when we were seated. When we ordered drinks, he informed us he'd have to see if the mixed drink machine was working yet.

The last straw was when one of us attempted to order one of the specials. He said he'd go back and make certain they still had some. Sure enough, they were out. Now that is understandable, but if you're out of the special, take 1 minute to erase it from the board.

Give the waiter credit--he had already brought our drinks, and allowed us to leave without paying for them (we didn't consume any of them, of course). Not knowing we were Point regulars, he also suggested some other places we might enjoy.

We felt awful and have *never*, as long as I can remember, walked out after we had been served something. But this was a miserable experience.

We finally drove back over to Bay Harbor where, despite the greater expense, we had an enjoyable dinner.

I realize it is "fairly" early in the summer, and that the restaurant was probably still quite short staffed (this despite the fact that it was a Saturday evening). But this is not the first bad experience we've had at the Breakwater. Has anyone else been disappointed?

I don't mean this to sound like a rant; every place has bad days. But to me, it seems like Cedar Point is missing the boat.

Here they have mediocre service and a very small menu (maybe 9 or 10 entrees, tops) at what--by location alone--could be one of the nicest places to enjoy a meal on the peninsula.
I remember ordering a "Cajun burger" there and it came out half meat half habenyaro(sp.?) pepper and was inedible. First time I did not finish a burger.

The missus and I used to go to Breakwater Cafe to celebrate our anniversary. After 3 straight years of doing this and having 3 of the most negative eating experiences of our lives, we have sworn off eating there again. Thanks for the heads-up...we were thinking of braving it again, but now know better. Oh, by the way, our anniversary is in early August. So if June is too early in the season for them to be any good, I guess August must be too late in the season for them. Let's stop making excuses for BC. Something is horribly wrong there.

Waiter: How did you find your steak, sir?
Diner: I looked under the lettuce and there it was! --old Vaudeville joke
My experiences have varied greatly. There have been lunches and dinners when everything went just as it should, but on the other hand I had a breakfast there once when we waited a whole hour before our order was brought to the table. All of the employees I have come across there have ranged from OK to great.
The best part of the BC is still the location. It is the best spot at CP to sit and eat or drink.
That sounds a lot like a typical evening at the TGI Friday's in the Radisson Harbour Inn since Cedar Point took over.

Cedar Point is great at running rides. They're TERRIBLE at running restaurants.

Due to the fact I hate the Fridays there (because we usually wait 20 mins just to get a drink, and they always screw our orders up) we decided to try the BC well we went around 3 for an early dinner because we were told they had a huge menu. I was excited being a veggie it is always hard to find something to eat at the point. When we were seated they handed us an piece of paper I looked confused and the waitress explained they just got new lunch menus more like a happy hour appetizer menu in my opinion, we looked at her and said i'm sorry but do you know of a restaurant that we can actually have a selection and she said "anything other than here has a selection" so we left and ended up in the place I hate the most Fridays, and again they messed our orders up and we waited for ever for a drink, the only cool thing was our waiter had a teddy ruxben *sp on his back and that was intrusting.

magnum or MF now that is a real question.... final answer magnum
Has anyone said anything to management? My experience in the food area's weren't that great either. They must know they have a problem? I've usually never had a problem with the people waiting on us. They are usually nice. Maybe a little over worked, but nice. It does seem to take forever. I have gotten the 'We are out response,' from more than one place at the point. I'm sure the logistics must be a nightmare. They probably need a food distribution system. They need to automate it or something.

Get with it or die in the process.....

it's a shame to hear about BC going downhill! I used to love it! I've only had one bad experience there. But not with food. Waitress got all huffy after we made fun of bird hitting window. We couldn't stop laughing! Besides that,it was always great food & service!

Well, this is unfortunate....With reservations at LP - I thought it imperative the family eat at the Breakwater this year. We have never been there and with the beautiful location, we were really looking forward to it.....

Not sure I can handle the hassle based on the experiences listed :-(
