What is the whole story behind the foreward pass o

I am a football player...Ive been playing for four years. I was wondering in detail what the story behind the foreward pass on CP's beach was in detail...does anyone here know?

Welcome to the Magnum XL-200, the coaster featured most on the Discovery Channel.

I don't know if anyone knows the WHOLE story but the just of it is that Knute Rockne was a lifeguard on the Cedar Point beach one summer.

He and his buddies would play on the beach and, as the story goes, he began throwing an overhand pass down field (or down beach) and practiced it all summer.

The bigger story is: Why didn't anyone come up with this before Knute? Baseball had an overhand throw. Why was Knute the first to put 2 and 2 together?

I last saw the plaque celebrating its creation attached to the Soak City changing rooms.

I don't think it was invented on the Cedar Point beach, but rather perfected. Regardless, there is no doubt that Cedar Point held a special place in Knute Rockne's heart.

I think that with the odd shape of the football, they didn't know, or didn't think about throwing long passes with it.

They would do shuffle passes, but no long throws. He didn't invent the forward pass, he just perfected it. If you remember when you first learned how to throw a football, it probably took a little time to get it right. Rockne and his teammate spent the summer perfecting it.

...Denial is an ugly thing.

They make a brief mention of it on CP's Website under history. The quote was he "perfected" the pass. And returned the following year to marry a girl he met at CP.

Of course, the biggest question of all is: Who was watching the swimmers while the lifeguards were playing football? I don't think Ellis would be keen on this today!
