What is that on the top of the tophat?

I don't know if its been discussed in another topic or not, but looking at the close-up pic of #16 from VM, it looks like there are brakes on the top of the tophat...or are those just stairs?
I'm pretty sure they are just these stairs, with the railings attached to the sides of them.

yep, been discussed in MANY other topics....

they are stairs, and there is a US and a Canadian Flag up there. But I think youre referring to the walkway ;)

Breaks?!?!?! I wish! It would be awsome to go over the tophat very slow, so we could enjoy the view!

Why....Then we woulnt experience any airtime.

How much airtime do you really think there'll be right before we go into a 270 degree plunge?
alot
Uh, according to people who have ridden this thing's West Coast sibling, we can expect a huge amount of air time on that top hat...assuming you aren't stapled in. Or something.
Even if you are stapled, you still get a ton of airtime on Xcelerator. I am assuming it will be just as good on this sucka too.

I don't know if this is right, but when you are stapled into your seat, you get a greater sensation of airtime. If you are not stapled in then you actually do come off of your seat, which granted is actual airtime, but you don't get the same sensation as if you were stapled down. Correct me if I am wrong.

Peace I'm Out

Well if there's a lot of airtime on this baby and then we PLUNGE STRAIGHT DOWN 400 FEET INTO AN ABYSS OF OBLIVION, wouldn't that be a little too intense?
Andy, if you are stapled on Maggie or MF, then you don't nearly feel as much airtime than if you get an inch or two of room. If you get stapled on Magnum, it can be down right painful.

Launch: Tophat: Twistage: Brakes...

...Denial is an ugly thing.

Could the yellow support sticking straight up at the top of the top hat be the location for the onride photo camera.

Tom

It is a support for the 100 ft. tall Statue of Red Baron to make the ride's official height 520 ft.
Crazy - LOL - I do have to say, I always thought since it is enevitable that a 500 footer will be constructed, why not use the tower from 16 to help cost effectively reach that height. MF island is still free as well.

On a serious note, the tophat seems to be the perfect place for an onride photo due to the lack of speed and height.

Tom

I think the yellow thingie sticking out is for the elevator house. Then again, it could be the support for the rumored second tophat.

I think the onride photo idea is cool. I can only imagine some of the expressions on this ride. Although it might be for something like the elevator house. I'd like to see an onride photo on the tophat.
It would have a great view in the background!
I won't pretend to know anything about the on-ride photo systems other than the basics. A question remains in the back of my head, though... would a camera on the tophat be prone to a lot of downtime and replacement due to lightning strikes?

I think that would depend on where the lightning rod(s) is (are). Maybe that's what the extra support is for, but I know nothing about lightning or electricity, so feel free to set me straight on the subject.
