I believe it is RED, too. The logo on my picture for Magnum is red, Plus, the digital letters inside the station (and the sign just before you go up the stairs) stating the rules and cautions are RED.
I was there in '89 (my first trip-I was 6) and it looked red to me. Funny, though, I remember my aunt saying Holy (insert expetive here)! That thing is huge! It's so tall and so steep! :)

I rode it with my 60 year old mother-in-law in 1991 who was visiting us from Paris, France. It was her first (and last, I think) roller coaster. She loved it.
