i was at cedar point monday and shoot the rapids site had no water and no one was there. did the state come by to inspect it yet? anyways, i heard many people talking in line saying that they asked park employes what is going to happen to the ride and the said its going to be sold to another cedar fair park this off season for a future ride? i don't really believe the rumor. i also heard other people saying shoot the rapids is going to get new trains in 2014 which is more believable. id hate to see cedar point get ride of shoot the rapids then we would be down to 2 water rides.
At this point, I don't think it will open back up this year. Water rides are usually closed during HalloWeekends. I think it's highly unlikely STR is going to be removed from the park. We'll probably see it running again in 2014.

I think the first clue that this is BS is that it would be "sold" to another park inside the chain. The CF parks don't buy rides from one another. If CF decides a ride could be moved and help drive profits elsewhere, it can. I'm pretty sure the ride will re-open next season right where it's at.
If it doesn't, it'll be scrapped, not relocated.

Let them take the rest of the summer - this could've been far more serious than it turned out to be injury wise. It's better off they work through the issue and solution off season and have a solid fix for next year instead of just trying to rush and get it back up for the balance of this one.
You boneheads need to learn how to roll up the extension cord for the fluggegecheimen when you're done with it!

If they get rid of it, they can order an extra dumpster or two for Mean Streak and WindPASSER.
I don't agree with you but you made me LOL. Thanks.

Is this the one with the red train and blue train? If they get new trains next year, what color will they be?
It is going to sit there until they fix it, which probably won't be until next season since they no longer operate the water rides during Halloweekends, and it would most likely require some sort of re-certification from the state of Ohio.
When it does re-open, it will still be a mediocre log flume that many families cannot ride together.

Because most family members don't want to get soaked on a log flume
Or flipped over. But that could just be my opinion. ;)
Shoot the rapids is getting torn out. Here is the proof: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/shoot_the_rapids_150.jpg

It might be from before the present Shoot The Rapids was built, obviously meant for Shoot The Rapids version 1. Do they still have the Shoot The Rapids tombstone? It wouldn't make a lot of sense to display that after Shoot The Rapids version 2 was built.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Phew! Kevkevdel scared me a little bit. Thanks for covering that up for me Pete. Just when I thought something good was maybe coming to Shoot the Rapids, Keykevdel posts that. You make another good point Pete because the park hasn't announced any plans of removing Shoot the Rapids. Therefore I just need to relax and hope for the best. :)

I think I saw a video once of the Shoot The Rapids tombstone with a dug up empty grave like it had come back from the dead.

Agreed. It's annoying that Cedar Point couldn't go with something like KI's flume after riding it this weekend. Here's the difference in our experience between StR and KI's flume:
Kid 1 is 36", kid 2 is 44", kid 3 is 51" and two parents. StR has a 46" height requirement. KI's flume has a 36" requirement. StR will only accommodate one of our kids right now and one of us has to stay off with the smaller two. But it's okay, parent swap will work in this case right? KI's will allow for all 5 of us to ride and everyone is happy.
It's annoying that something that simple couldn't be done at CP. Nope. They had to go with a terrible ride system that locks you into water ride. Which has now shown that there is a risk of drowning if something bad should happen.
