about closing food and beverage locations? We were a minute before closing and they wouldn't let us order a drink. And the park was still open another hour. Now how hard is it to pour a drink? We bought the Fright Lane Pass last night and it was well worth it. The only thing there is I called and they said it would be $40 on Friday night and the lady said the prices change every night and we were charged $55 last night. It just bugs me that Cedar Point is never consistent.

If the registers were logged off or powered down or however CP does it, it may just not have been an option. It's not necessarily as easy as "pouring a drink" but if they can't make the transaction or a supervisor says "no more" then it just can't do it

Im sorry but a little confused on that one. How was it a minute before closing and the park was still open an hour? The restaurant was a minute before closing? A few more details might help.

Have you addressed these concerns with the park directly? No one here will know exactly why that food location could not sell you a drink.

Steve, the restaurant was a minute before closing. People were still in there. So this places closes an hour before the park closes. This time he just said he was closed. It had nothing to do with the register or a supervisor.

How do you know? Perhaps the supervisor told him to start closing down before you arrived at the counter. Perhaps he was following standard operating procedure.

Isn't it fair to say one minute before closing is closed? Unless you were asking for a free refill that comes with a meal you are finishing in the restaurant I wouldn't expect anyone to take a new order at one minute before close.
And, I'm assuming you say it was one minute to close by your watch. The clock in that location may have been a minute ahead of yours.

Was it a smaller location? I used to work in merchandise at the park, and some of the smaller locations, depending on the location within the park, may close earlier than the larger locations. For example, Thunder Canyon Dry Goods by the Maverick may close earlier than Cedar Creek. It also depends on staffing as well. This is the time of the season where there is a limited staff and fundraisers (ride pride, etc) are helping Cedar Point as well. He (or she) may be closing that location to help a larger location.
Most stores even outside of CP do this. It's common courtesy not to run into a store last minute. I don't see what the big deal is.
I will have to vouch on the other inconsistencies though. Parking is a big one..

Ever work in a restaurant? I've worked at several full service sit down restaurants. We used to watch the clock for the final 15-20 minutes hoping nobody walked in. If you were in the doors before they were locked, you were served. And we never asked anyone to leave because we'd been closed for an hour and they were still there.
ROUNDABOUND.
No but I've worked in retail. Many stores even lock their doors 5 mins till to avoid these type of people. I've worked at stores where you're scheduled until the closing hour (let's say 9), and if people are in the store after 9, you're not being paid for it because your shift was technically until 9:00 on the dot. I think the locking door 5 mins till makes sure workers can get out on time. A lot of times people don't realize this and I think is why they really think they can walk in at 8:59:59
OP is a retailer's worst nightmare. Running into the store minutes before it closes demanding a coat and a steak dinner.
Meanwhile, I have gone into restaurants late and asked the server if there was extra prep done so the kitchen has less to do.

My favorite was the time I went to Old Time Pottery at 15 minutes till close and only needed to buy one item. It's a huge store, so it took me a few minutes to find said item. At 10 till, they announced "the store is now closed," which at most stores means bring your purchases to the register. A minute later, just as I found what I needed, another announcement clarified, "the registers are now CLOSED" and something along the lines of "please leave the store now" (although not in those words). So I put the thing back on the shelf and left.
It was so strange. A whole group of people were leaving the store with 7 minutes to spare, without any purchases, and the checkout lines were empty.
I have a retail background also. The doors do not lock until 1am and those still in the store at that time are allowed to make their purchases (although they are urged to come to the front ASAP). The clerk is paid until he clocks out for his shift.
Posted closing time is 1:00am. Not 12:45am, not 12:59am.
I too am a bit frustrated by Cedar Point's price fluctuations, although they are doing their job and maximizing revenue from these services.

It would drive me crazy if the gas sign said $2.09 and they then charged me$2.39. If I read jayme's post correctly that is essentially what they did to her. Why would they tell her one price but then charge a different price?
She did get the correct price quoted over the phone at that time.
Frightlane, Fastlane prices fluctauate based on demand. Each pass price sign has price stickers in place 3-4 of them on top of one another. As they sell more, they peel off the top sticker and reveal the next pricing tier.
You can always buy them online and get the guaranteed lowest price at any given time.
And prices can change constantly at every retail place, it's called capitalism and the laws of supply and demand.
