What Is an Ejector seat?

Hi guys, this is my first posting, i'm a "lifer" when it comes to The Point, I remember just making the height requirement for Corkscrew!  I have just found this site and am totally loving it.....Now for my question........                                        I keep hearing terms like"I sat in ejector 3-1 on Magnum", could someone please tell me what this means? thanks
The ejector seat is a certain seat on a train which is designed to give maximum airtime.  On Magnum it's 1-3, which means car 1 row 3.  MF's is 5-1, in the middle of the train.

I have to disagree with 5.1 being the ejector on MF.  Sure there is something different about that seat, but I think any seat in the first two cars have way more airtime than the dead center of the train.  Acutally, that's kind of a rule of thumb for me.  I've been on several coasters where the back seat of the first car yields the most air.

Exactly Scott, 1-2's on 2 benchers and 1-3's on 3 benchers seem to yield the most ejection type air on coasters, which consider just straight up forceful air. An example of this is 1-2 on Villain, which I feel yield the best air and If I sit anywhere else on that ride except for maybe 2-2, the air seems kind of mute.
On MF, 1-2 definitely throws you up. 5-1 on MF you are hardly ejected, but you slowly float up and down for a good amount of time. 9-1's and 9-2's air feels like you are bout to get thrown out the back and are forced to almost stand up and lean back. Same applies to the back on Magnum.

I find the "back of the front car" rule to be true on most coasters. Car 5 on MF gives the most sustained air, but not the most intense. The front car is the best ride on the S:ROS coasters as well. The back has it's virtues, especially on the B&M hypers. The first drop in back of Raging Bull has the most "throw-you-out-of-the seat" feel I've ever experienced. But for the most pronounced, "push you up" air, it's the front on most rides for me.

But to answer the question; the original, and possibly the best ejector seat is the third seat in the first car on Magnum.

Without upstops, airtime would have a whole new meaning!

Thanks so much for all the speedy responses. I always thought back seats gave you the most airtime til i finally had MF front seat......i had the pleasure of riding back car many many times, but when i finally had front car, that monster third hill had me out of my seat before we were even halfway UP the hill, just awesome, and definitely my fave seat now, i always recommend it highly
ok
