You really are a 1st Timer aren't you?
Anyway, elephant ears are flat pieces of fried dough, with sugar and sometimes other toppings on it as well. It's basically a extremely oversized donut.
They are good, if you don't mind clogging your arteries, but they are very overpriced at CP.

Hmmm, they can be a little chewy but aren't bad with bar-b-que sauce.
Oh, you are talking about something entirely different.

Man... that would be quite the meal... I wonder if Famous Daves would consider adding them to their menu? :)

They're not, in any way, healthy for you. So if you're health conscious, stay FAR away! They taste good though.
Literally they take bread dough and flatten it out. Then they deep fry it till it become golden brown on the surface.. Basically it ends up being a flatten out crispy ballon with air in the center. Then they put cinnamon sugar on top and maybe add pie filling on such as blueberry or cherry.
If you want to make your own, all you need is a deep fryer, set it to 350 degrees F. Thaw bread dough which you can buy. Take a chunk and flaten it out thin. Might need some flour to keep it from sticking to everything. Deep fry it flipping it once allowing both sides to become golden brown or somewhat darker. Mix up cinnimon and sugar and sprinkle on. Easy, good and far cheaper than what you pay at an amusement park or carnival. I've made these at get togethers and they go over quite well.
One of my favorite things to do at cedar point is buy an elephant ear and eat it in Frontiertown. Absolute heaven...
Never been a fan of them.. I'll stick to my artery clogging chili fries at the Happy Friar :)
R.I.P. MrScott... You're greatly missed!!
