Every new year at CP seems to have less trees than the year before and it is very sad to see. I'm 17 now and I've been going to CP ever since I was born, and over the years I have noticed a massive loss of trees. The two greatest losses were due to Dragster and Maverick. Now I love those rides and new rides cause for some things to go away, but I think CP should somehow try to save them or plant more. CP has lost a lot of its beauty.
I'm sure a great majority of you here will agree with me that CP has cut down a lot of trees and has failed to replace these beautiful things.
and for those of you who don't think that there has been a loss of trees watch this. I'm sure a lot of you have seen it already.
Just look at all the trees and bushes all around here. With the addition of Maverick, there is basically nothing compared to how beautiful this was.
This must be the yearly "won't somebody think of the trees" thread, but it's a good time to remind everyone that a) the situation isn't as bad as one may think, and b) it's an amusement park, not a rainforest. :)
Every year it seems the alarm is sounded that Cedar Point is "digging their own grave," as someone once said. Examples from 1999, 2000, 2002 ... well, let's just say there hasn't been a shortage of topics through the years.
Tim had a great observation (as usual) here.
Here are a couple of comments I made in a thread on CoasterBuzz back in 2007:
Keep in mind it's an amusement park, not a state park. I think some people expect this, but it's not realistic. Never mind the fact that it takes years for an area to mature after construction.
But Cedar Point's atmosphere has never come from being forested, at least not over the last several decades. The natural beauty has always centered around the lake and beach. There is an effort by the park to preserve mature trees where practical, but it's never going to look like a state park. To be fair, it's not a 364 acre slab of concrete either.
Or, as Lord Gonchar said, "If I want to look at trees, I walk through the woods. ;) "
And as far as Maverick killing the charm of the area, White Water Landing killed it in 1982, too. Gemini did it in 1978 (with some help from a tornado in 1977). And can you imagine how many trees were chopped back in the 1950s when that super-wide concrete midway was installed?
I'm sure if PointBuzz had been around in the 1950s, we would have had a "the trees are gone, the end is near" thread. :)
There's also been some word floating around (in another thread) that a number of trees are apparently diseased, and have been removed as a result.

I didn't understand pulling out the Aborvitae in front of Magnum either, but you see this kind of 'pull it out then put the same thing back in' quite frequently. Not that it dosen't look nice; those are some quality shurbberies. They obviously had a good shrubber. Hopefully Kinzel didn't have to say 'Ni' to any old ladies to track one down.
Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."
I will say foliage would be nice but as stated this is a park for rides & entertainment not a nature conservatory...If you want to see a good decent amount of foliage and actual nice scenery/lansdcaping. Walk from the boardwalk to windseeker. The trees in front of breakers & whatnot & the meticulous landscaping there looks very nice actually...Truly got to notice it today as I walked to coral courtyard
