They do have a free pre-K pass for kids 3-5, and what's great about it is that your child only needs to be within that age range at the time of registration/renewal, so you can get 4 seasons out of it.

I admit I'm a bit annoyed at how simplified the day ticket model is, especially when it comes to wrangling extended family to the park, and especially since a lot of them haven't been to CP *since* there were distinct Jr. and Sr. tickets. I do agree with the general sentiment that paying full price for an in between kid that can't ride most things but doesn't fall into the pre-K category, or for older relatives that want to be with the family but clearly aren't going to ride anything. I suppose with the reliance on passes being what it is, they've got to make up the difference from the day passes somehow.
Just went and pulled up a 1998 brochure since it's the last year I remember having this gate model, and we've got:
Funday (4-59, 54" and up) $31.95
Tweener (4+, 48"-53") $27.95
Junior (4+, under 48") $6.95
3 & Younger Free
Senior (60+) $16.95
Season Pass: $94.95
CP & Soak City Pass: $149.95
Obviously granted this is in 1998 dollars, but just the price difference between the base ticket and the extra age groups always felt a little more fair. What actually made me go huh when I pulled it up just now, was the base price for the season pass being essentially the same as the special price for the Gold Pass, which is an argument for a different thread, but it's still interesting to see.
