What happened to the inside of the Pirate Ride?

The Pirate Ride used to be one of my favorite rides of the park. I still woner why they closed it. I know they have those video games in the entrance but i wonder what happened to all of the goodies inside and what became on the building itself. Anyone know?

What pirate ride? Ocean Motion?

I love Wicked Twister,
and Raptor too.

It was an old dark ride, the last one Cedar Point had (I believe). It is now an arcade. I guess the capacity wasn't good enough so they took it out. I liked the ride too.

Everytime i go by it The arcade is empty I think they should have kept it in
I miss the ride too. My first Cedar Point memory was of it: Me and my father took a ride, then we stepped out onto the midway, where I got my first "close-up" glimpse of a CP coaster, the Blue Streak. Mind you, I'm only 17, but the memory of us riding is burned in my mind forever.

Well, the area closest to Blue Streak and the arcade facade is a storage area for Park Op. There's all sorts of old candy canes, rags and other fun cleaning supplies. I'm pretty sure the rest of it is now used as the warehouse for Park Services.

Some of the pirates are used for Halloweekend props. On the balcony of Bayou Refreshments are some of the mechanical ones.

"For once, somebody may call me 'Sir' without adding, '...you're making a scene.'"
If memory serves me right it had more to do with changing attitudes of youth and their desire to leave the boat and become part of the cast. Unless your Disneyland, running dark rides where you give the rider a chance to get off the ride while movie isn't such a good idea. No matter how many warnings you give about leaving the ride.

Which arcade are you talking about? When was the Pirate ride removed?

I don't belive that Raptor had anything to do with the pirate ride, since I had my first ride on it after leaving the queue for raptor.

I thought that I heard something a while ago about it being bought by another smaller park.

I'm pretty sure it's from people getting out of the cars amd vandalizing the inside...

Yeah, It's a park op and park services warehouse now. In the services part you can still see where the track for the ride was. :)

I wish we had more photos of the ride. One of my favorites as well as Earthquake Yes, I beleive the "desire to leave the boat and become part of the cast" caused the ride to shut down. However, remember that even if the ride was popular or not, as rides get old, it's harder to make or buy parts for the ride. When you have to hand machine a bolt or a bar to fix the ride, it's easier to just retire it. Cedar Point doesn't have a space problem (TM) well, it's because rides don't last forever, popular or not.

This article about Freedomland has some information about the Pirate Ride as well as Earthquake.

I believe the pirate ship mural is still visible behind the arcade games and you can see the marks on the floor from the ride vehicles.
