What happened Sunday?

All right - i heard that the ride was open on Saturday and Sunday and now if you look at the website it is the letter informing people that it is down. What happened? Anything anyone knows would be appreciated as I am going to Cedar Point tomorrow.

Thanks

Yeah, I am going tomorrow too, and saw the site, just posted right after you about the same thing. I was trying to see all day whether it was open, but the CP cams are hard to tell. To me it looked closed. I hope it will be, this is my last chance to go before I leave for michigan tech this summer.
It closed really late on Saturday, and when I got home at one, they already had posted that it was open. So maybe they just change the site late, but from what I heard from my friend who went today, it was closed.

It was down all day today, but the signs at the gate said it would be up later in the day. But, it wasn't. When we left around 10, there were 5 trains on the tracks, one on the maintenance track, and two that we could see had the water-dummies in them. Lines were short everywhere today. Awesome day.
Hey! What's up with the Dragster is that they shut it down prior to Coastermania because they needed a replacement part to get it up and running again, and right now they are dealing with the complications. They only ran it once today and people stood on the platform for about 30 minutes.(Remember i'm writing this at 2:12 in the morning and i'm talking about Sunday.) :-)

like, omg it broke again! like, ya, thats it.
Surprise, Surprise...

Um, they ran it a lot more than once Sunday, seeing as how Old Timer Tim and I both got spins on it.

And please... we don't need a play-by-play of what the Web site says or what you see on the Web cams. We can all see it just as well as you. Don't bother asking what's wrong because not only will no one here know, but all of the wishing in the world isn't going to make it work.

Hi,

We arrived by boat about 10:15 or so, and could see they were testing TTD. By the time we had the boat tied up, and got into the park, there was a line forming to get into the queue for the ride. So of course we waited.

After about 5 minutes, we started to get in queue, and within 30 minutes of getting into the park, we got to ride it. AMAZING.

About an hour later, we noticed there were no cars running on it while we waited in line for Millenium. Sure enough, down again.

Now, this is 100% unconfirmed, but a friend of mine is dating a guy that works in ride operations, and he told me they're contemplating shutting it down for the summer to work out safety issues. I'd take that with a grain of salt, but thought I'd pass it along.

The DipNDots guy told me the same thing :)

You'd never set foot in the park again if the park decided to close Dragster for an extended period? Why? The other rides not enough? Sheesh...

I can honestly say that I would never set foot in the park again.

I doubt you'd be missed.

It is 100% silly. If there were "safety issues" do you really think they'd put anyone on the ride? I don't think so. They have a $25 million ride that they've centered all of their marketing around. They won't be shutting down anything any longer than absolutely necessary.

is it a safety issue? probably not, why? cause we know the safety system works, the cable snapped and no one was even minutely injured. i don't think it is a safety issue, now the tires being removed that is cause of safety!

It is most likely a computer or mechanical failure. It's less of a matter of saftey than just not being able to get the ride to run. I do have to give you credit for not spreading it around the boards like they were going to close it though :) You presented the info that you had in a respectable manner :)

Uh oh...maybe this time it's a bit more serious. I just saw a CP commercial from last year. Nothing about TTD in it. I would guess maybe that took that one guy's advice of not advertising it, but why would they do that now?

LeWiS

They didn't announce it until January 9 of this year, so of course there wouldn't be anything on commercials from last year.

It wasn't closed all day Sunday, my friend has a video of it early in the morning going as if it never closed down. But it closed down at eleven. Hopefully I will get to ride it for a second time one Wednesday when I go, if not I'm taking people who have never been on Millenium or Twister.
