What family rides would be a good fit for Cedar Point.

One thing I would think would be good is a interactive dark ride like Ghostwood Estates and the one down at KI where you try to hit targets while keeping score. Another would be a dark ride themed to the Peanuts characters. It could be themed with scenes from several of the peanuts holiday specials with special detail from the beloved Christmas special.
One challenge is probably finding rides that kids can enjoy without either boring adults to death or making them sick.

I know these are popular, but I'd just like a good dark ride akin to the old Pirate Ride. For whatever reason, I've never much gotten into the interactive thing. They seem to be wildly popular, though. Done right, of course this would be a welcome addition.

The Toy Story arcade shooter at Disney seems pretty popular. I don't know what you could really set it as to fit into Cedar Point but I think it might be worth looking in to. If Disney can manage to handle large capacity crowds with it, CP should have no problem.

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

a monorail would be cool for the park. small foot print in midways, and it hovers above the park. Grandmas all the way down to 2 yr olds can love it.

for a more "thrilling" ride, a pirate ride would be great, see, a few of my friends got to ride it when they were younger during its last season. I went to the park in '98, when it was already gone. they barely remember it, but it would be nice to start that theme up again. question is, where would they put it?

Snoopy: World War I Flying Ace vs. the Red Baron. Just an idea for an interactive shooter. But Snoopy's relevance is a bit lacking anywhere but Cedar Fair nowadays.

I still wish Cedar Fair would of went with Nicelodeon instead of Snoopy. Everybody knows SpongeBob, but who's Woodstock?

^Maybe everybody who is under 30 knows Spongebob, but he is starting to phase out. Also, it would be so much more expensive to go with Nickelodeon. Everybody who has a Sunday newspaper in their house knows who snoopy is. If not, they will be introduced to him when they go to Cedar Fair park.

Thing is, Disney can't handle the crowds with that ride. They built it in a HUGE building and made two separate tracks to increase capacity, and yet it still only moves about 1,100 to 1,200 guests an hour (that's if they’re operating at peak proficiency). The wait is always around 120 minutes, which is why the fast passes are gone by noon and I still haven't ridden it (I have no interest waiting that long for a Wii game). That may still sound like a lot to you but for reference, Buzz Lightyear can get around 2680 guests an hour, Haunted Mansion can get around 2618 guests an hour, Star Tours around 2050 guests an hour, Expedition Everest can get around 2,050 guests an hour and Pirates of the Caribbean around 3,400 guests per hour (very different ride systems but all vastly superior to Toy Story). It'd be even worst at Cedar Point, given it'd be one of the only air conditioned rides in the park and they'd most likely only have one track (cutting capacity down by about a third). I really just don't like the concept or ride system for that attraction.

I'd like to see an interactive dark ride like The Challenge of Tutukenom (which only gets around 920 guests an hour since it's at a seasonal park) if only for the physical sets, something like BGW's The Curse of DarKastle (which gets around 1,450 guests an hour) simply because it's amazing technology, or just a good ol fashioned slow moving boat ride (doesn't have to be for the kids), like Kings Island's old Enchanted Voyage dark ride. I'd even take the old Geauga Lake simulators with a new film (a Disaster Transport that doesn't suck?), I'm desperate here.

Cedar Fair should just stick with the Peanuts. I really don't want to see a "iCarly" themed roller coaster in their future :/ Also the Peanuts are adorable and whenever I see them it reminds me of Cedar Point.

I agree Taylor! My kids love the Peanuts characters!

Just have to say...I don't trust Cedar Fair with an interactive ride. My last 3 rides on Boo Blasters at KI have resulted in 1 of 3 Blasters barely working.

I don't understand the difference between Kennywood's and KI's Blasters, but all of Kennywood's worked in my experience, they had a visible laser, and it made the ride experience infinitely more enjoyable.

I think a boat ride would be nice.

Paddle Wheel type boat ride? ;). Or how about a water ride where you sit in a boat that looks like a log and you can fit 4 or 5 people in it? :)

I was going to mention another PWE or Mill Race, but those are as obvious as a peanuts themed dark ride. What would truely unique (for the United States) and what I'd most like to see as a thrilling all ages attraction is a Vekoma Madhouse.

One of these along Frontier Trail or Town with a good backstory tied to supposed hauntings at the park would be great! No height restrictions needed because the illusion can be experienced simply by sitting on a stationary (for the most part) bench.

I think a ropes course would be a nice unique experience for the 42" and up crowd. Dollywood's Adventure Mountain ropes course manages to be included at no extra fee and is extremely popular with the families. Also big at Dollywood is the Splash Battle family water ride.

They should add a Children Coaster in Planet Snoopy called Snoopy's Adventure or something like that because they don't have a coaster in that area for kids with a 42' requirement.

Regarding the Vekoma Madhouse, doesn't Six Flags New England have one of those (and Great Adventure maybe)? I remember a Houdini themed ride with a rotating room like that. Not bad for a family-friendly dark ride.

Edit: Quote hates me.

Idlewild in Pennsylvania has one of these... not very many people ride it.

The Idlewild attraction is an old fashioned Haunted Swing that operates on the same principle as the Vekoma Madhouse, however the two experiences are vastly dissimilar. Vekoma's model is VERY successful in the UK and is a modern illusion that combines lighting, sound, seat effects and other sensory gimmicks. Dizzy Lizzy's Saloon at Idlewild is an older haunted swing and often reaches a smoldering 100 degrees inside (and you thought Space Spiral was bad). It's no wonder it's an overlooked attraction.

Six Flags New England's and Great Adventure's Madhouses are among the most popular flats in the park. In fact SFGAdv gave in to guest demand by reopening their Madhouse after having it closed for a year. If you have done Houdini's Great Escape (or any of the overseas Madhouses), then you might not get the appeal. But trust me. These things would be popular with all ages here. I can't believe we haven't seen more.

Does anyone here know the opening year for Dizzy Lizzy's? Or the manufacturer? *Looks directly at Dave*

Richie A.

I stand corrected lol
