Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear the first time, therefore I am editing this post to say that we are interested in your opinions on the hotels themselves, regardless of pricing. We have already investigated the cost and narrowed it down to these three.

ORIGINAL POST:
My family and I will be visiting CP in July and would like to know what you think of these hotels, POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE:
* Best Western Cedar Point on Cleveland Road
* Clarion Inn Sandusky on Sandusky Mall Blvd
* Holiday Inn Cedar Point Area on Milan Road
If you are a local or maybe have visited the area in the past, your opinions would be a big help.

All get negatives for being a bit pricy in July. Consider either the Breakers Express or the Cleveland Rd. Econolodge.

Agreed, I have stayed at the Best Western. It was really over priced, and it didn't offer anything that the Econolodge or Breakers Express offer.

I second the vote for the Econolodge. Skip Breakers Express unless they are offering a *reasonable* combo deal (w/park tickets) at the time of your visit.

It is true that the Clarion Inn can get a bit pricey, but I'm of the opinion that I'd rather pay a bit more and stay at a decent place. The Clarion is nice, clean, and not too far from CP. I'm going to CP 3 weekends in May and am staying at the Clarion all 3 weekends. My room for those weekends is never above $60 a night. I found lots of Sandusky hotels that were much more expensive for those same May weekends, Breakers Express included! True, the expensive season is still far off, but the Clarion gives you a nice room for the money.
When I was young, my family stayed at a Holidome in Sandusky. I don't remember if it is the Same Holiday Inn that is on Milan Road. What I do remember is a woman coming to our door at 3am and asking my father if he needed any "services."
Econolodge. Also the Rodeway Inns have never disappointed.

Too much of a good thing...is wonderful.

3am services huh? Damn..If Cedar Point offered that, they'd be #1 forever :)

Thanks all. But regardless of price, what do you think?
My family of 24 total goes each year in late July and we stay at the Breakers Express. It has one of the lowest rates in the area and it has a Snoopy shaped pool:). Be sure to make your reservations at coasterbuzz.com!

Take it to da house!
NONE OF THE ABOVE!!!!!!!!! Stay at Breakers Express, they have great rates, a free shuttle to CP, a Snoopy shaped pool, and that CP touch you just can't find anywhere else.
No, no, no. If price is not a factor, the choice is obvious -- Sandcastle Suites.

I've stayed at that Best Western many times over the years. It may be somewhat overpriced, but it's not TOO bad (opening weekend is costing me $71 with my AAA discount -- all the CP properties were already booked), and it's reasonably close to the causeway.
It IS looking pretty outdated nowadays, though.

I stayed in the clarion inn. It's not brand new but it's nice and clean and it has a nightclub inside it. The only thing I didn't like about it was that the walls are paper thin. The sleep inn down by applebees is real nice and is a bit cheaper.

"Nippy!! Where the hell are ya?"
Breakers Express Will 99% of the Time be the Cheapest and the Closest to the Park. It's really Nice and the Snoopy Pool is Very fun to Swim in.

Nobody mentioned that the Holiday Inn has a nice Holidome with Pool, 2 hot tubs, arcade, mini-golf, ping-pong, pool, ect. The rooms aren't too terrible, if you have a family and are trying to save money versus going to GBL (Great Bear Lodge) or Sandcastle Suites, Breakers, ect. I'd recommend the Holidome.
