That being said, I don't blame them. They're way more expensive than what they're worth. They don't bring in much of anything, and they really don't 'attract crowds' like new rides probably would. It's much easier and cheaper and more econimical to pay for Live E entertainers than take care of the animals year round and pay bucko bucks for their trainers to put together a brand new show every year (nearly). In short I don't blame them at ALL for not bringing it back. With the nasty conditions that have to be cleaned daily, the upkeep, etc. they're not worth it.
The 'lines closing early' I assume was explained on another thread, as well. Most people that work at GL are people that live in the Aurora area.... They don't have on-point or near point housing for their workers like CP does. If they had on point or near point housing, then I'm sure they'd consider it. ... then again if you KNOW of this, you shouldn't really have a problem... It might be a slight annoyance, but just think of how much more tired the employees would be the next day if they had to work two hours after the park closes and then have to drive a half hour or 45 min to get to the park afterwards... Being more tired = bad moral, bad customer service, and just is not good overall. CP can get away with it b/c their employees don't HAVE this hour to hour and a half trip to and fro. You also have to take into account that they have to leave at least 15 to 30 min earlier than the time it usually takes for those odd days of getting into the park late from large crowds.
I live off point in Bellevue. I have to (sometimes) leave over an hour early if they think it's going to be busy the next day. That multiplied by 6 days is a LOT of lost sleep, but they accomodated me by not giving me as many splits or allowing me to trade them off to someone who wanted one to play in the park... If you think I'm kidding about the lack of sleep thing, though. ... Lesson learned by me: Never trust loud music in your car and you're tired... always call a friend. lol
And finally... I have no idea what an Enterprise is, so ... no comment on that one ;)

LOL - Is that a fact? I suppose you worked in ride maintenance at GL or have first hand experience. If not I would not make such a broad statement.

That's why Cedar Point went to 11:00 closes in mid summer after they started the laser show.

Well said Ben!I really, really would love to see employee housing at Geauga Lake. I work in the park and live in Akron. It's about a 40 minute drive on a good day. I'm usually beat after work and sometimes am so tired that I nod off while driving home. And I'm in leadership this year which means more hours (that's a good thing :) ). This year I'm doing some preseason work so I'm hoping to avoid all of that falling asleep at the wheel thing. If housing were available to me then I would have a much shorter drive.

Well it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that GL needs alot of ride maintenance. Have you seen the carousel lately?? And don't even get me started on Mr. Hydes Nasty Fall.
