What are you missing?

I will take this to mean what do I miss in the off season.

I miss the overall experience that is one of my multiple annual 3 night/4 day Cedar Point extravaganzas. Staying at either Sandcastle or Breakers, relaxing in a chair with a cigar and a few beers while absorbing the smell of the water and the sounds of the park in the background. I miss the 140 mile motorcycle ride required to get there. I miss the people watching, the ride watching, and the sights, sounds, and smells of a world class amusement park in all of it's midwestern summer splendor. I miss chatting with the waitstaff at famous Dave's over a cold Yuengling in the middle of the day. I miss the smell of the coal smoke wafting over the coaches of the CP & LE RR as we travel past the Mine Ride performing another dive to the lagoons. I miss the sight of the park at night when all the ride lights have been turned on, transforming the park into a whole different creature than what you had come to know all afternoon. I miss the sound of the park in the morning, before any of the rides are operating or even testing. The wonderful sound of machinery at rest. It is a particularly fascinating time of day. The sound of the park at night is very similar, yet strikingly different. I miss the looks on the faces of my nieces and nephews as they walked through the gates of this man-made wonderland for the very first time. And most of all, I miss the enjoyable time spent with family and friends at a place that has meant so much to me throughout the course of my life.

I love the twitter updates from both here and Coasterbuzz. It makes time in between classes more enjoyable.
