What are Special Boarding Passes?

I have never heard of this: [URL removed]

Also, someone I know alluded to the existence of Special Immediate Ride passes for the Dragster, supposedly as rare as hen's teeth. So, what's the deal with these Special Passes? Urban Legends?

Best Cool Idea Heard In Line: An extra price "Freeway" stamp, good for the whole year. You could buy it when you get your season pass.

These are passes that are given out to guests "whose day was interrupted" after being stuck on a ride. They were also given out at coastermania as a sort of compensation for TTD being down at the largest coaster event in the country. These passes allow you to walk up the exit ramp one time and for one ride only to 'almost' immediately board a train. I used mine today on MF and waited 1 minute to board a train.
Those passes are non-transferable. So what that seller is doing is against CP policy. Not sure if they will be honored at all.

Eight, Becasue when the guest who buys these uses them at the park the employee will sure to be able to tell that they were bought online.

These passes show up on eBay from time to time. The passes say right on the front in plain English: "Pass is void if copied or sold"

Some people will do anything to make a buck. Pretty sad ...

I can't believe someone would want to sell one anyway. I got some earlier this season and to me they are worth more than gold. Then again, that person probably isn't a freak like me.

I'm with Scott on this one. I have not gotten any this year, but if I had them I wouldn't even consider selling them. I would love to be able to ride without waiting in line.

If you got to the URL before it was removed, the seller was in Florida. My guess is they won't be visiting CP again this year, and are just trying to make a buck or two off these passes they didn't use.
They are kind of hard to get, but there are situations that can help net a few of them. An example of where it is easier to get one or two is on the thread that mentioned a test seat on Mantis. It mentioned that I, a GOES, couldn't fit on Mantis and when my friend and I saw a "Silver Tag" we said something and we were given two Exit Passes, as I call them. The things are not refundable at TTD but are good everywhere else.
The generic grey ones are for any ride in the park. I contemplated going up to some ride that never has a line like Ocean Motion or Cadillac Cars and asking them if I could use it. :)

There are special green ones that are specifically to be used for Dragster. I got two of these this summer between CoasterMania and being in line when it broke down for the night. I only used one myself since I was there all summer.

When my family came for a visit I gave them the 3 generic ones so that they could skip the 2 hour line on MF. One of the Dragster tickets I gave to my mom...she loved it. :) One of the best parts of my family coming was just talking to them about all of the additions that had been added to the park. The last time they were there, Magnum was the latest coaster. Needless to say they were rather impressed and awed.

...and the most anticipated event of summer 2003 is...

The Matrix: Reloaded!

I received a special boarding pass (along with two of my friends) this year when i was at cedar point. I was unable to walk, so i rented a wheelchair and got a rider safety guide. I left my wheelchair for the bathroom and when i returned, my rider safety guide was gone. I had a time written down for dragster also. I went to Park Ops, where they were very helpful. They gave me a new safety guide and also gave me 3 front of the line (Freeway esentially)passes for Dragster in which we waited 5 mins to ride, mostly in the station. I was pleasantly surprised when i found out the extent that cedar point goes to in order to ensure a happy stay for its guests, especially the ones unable to walk, as i was at that time.

how would a park employee be able to tell you bought one of those passes?

They can't. So saying it is void if sold is like saying your car will stall if you go over the speed limit. I do agree it is wrong to sell them, but really what is stopping people?

Serial Numbers, they have a list of those numbers in the office that they know of that are being sold.

Right, and the ride op will know that number right off the bat so they know its been sold. Please, they just take the pass and let you ride, theres no way to tell if the ticket has been sold. Unless afterwards they check the number, but still the person has already used it and are loooooong gone.
Yes they may have a serial numbers listed on them, but at least when I received mine at CoasterMania, no one wrote down my name to correspond with the SN. So the SN on mine, at least, was worthless. I could have sold it if I wanted to. Hell, I didn't even use them myself, I gave them to my girlfriend and her mother to ride.

I personally saw 3 guys removed from the park for using (illegal - if you may) boarding passes. I'm not sure how they determined they were fraudulent or whatnot, but security was called and they were removed.

On a sidenote, why would people use them on a ride with no wait (Mantis later at night) when I look right across the tracks and see MF with an 1+ wait still. I've seen ride again passholders have to wait longer to board from the unload side of Mantis longer than if they had just stood in line because we had to find empty seats. Explain that one to me?!?

MANTIS ROCKS 2002 & 2003

Sometimes Park Operations sends out, as part of the daily paperwork for each ride, a memo with a list of numbers to keep an eye out for. The best fake "Special Boarding Pass" I ever saw was in 2001. It was a laminated, hand drawn picture of Joe Cool with a bubble caption saying, "This card entitles the holder and one other person to enter through the exit of any ride...." We were laughing too hard to call security, but of course we confiscated the pass. I bet that Peggy still has it to use as an example for orientation purposes. I kept a couple of passes from each year I worked there for my wife's scapbooking purposes.
