Well, one of the ops needs to get the safety harness on, get in the maintenance cart, go up to whereever the person is at, tell them to buckle it, wait for them to buckle it, then check it, go back down, park the cart and finally it can continue on its way.
Those things are hard enough to buckle while sitting in the station, I can't imagine trying to do it with the lap bar down and sitting at a 45 degree angle. I can see how it can delay things. They just need to post signs (and enforce) saying that unfastening your seatbelt is cause for removal from the park. When that person returns, have security waiting for them to escort them to the gates.

my friend was telling me about a news report she heard about someone who died falling out of a coaster a few years back, apparently the person was an avid enthusiast who would often undo the belt to get more airtime. i wonder how many other "hardcore" enthusiasts do this kind of thing... i guess thats why ill always be an amateur enthusiast...

The only delay I'd think about would be to either manually unlock the restrant or having to back the trains up to redispatch the them.
Yeah, but even delays like that get people pissed off. Especially when they find out that it was because of some idiot who thought he could be cool and unbuckle his seatbelt.

This is nothing what compared to what happened last year. I was just ready to board when the sounds starting going forever and they didnt launch the train. The next thing I know a ride op is going out to the train and they talk to this guy. Well they couldnt launch the train because he had his hand on the wheel. Now thats stupid.

That happened at Stark Raven Mad a few years back (2003, I think). An enthusiast riding in the back seat undid her restraint and stood up, and was ejected from the ride. She was later found dead. It was concluded that the fault was rider error, and last I knew her family was suing because of the accident.

The "hand on the wheel" deal is probably in reference to the Superman accident out east, where a larger sized man (the whole beginning of the seatbelt issue), came out of his restraints and ended up getting a limb severed, while falling out of the train.

There is the history of how the seatbelt issue began.

It took 15 minutes, becuase he was refusing to put his seeatbelt on, and they couldn't pull the trains back becuase there were already two full trains waiting in the station, it was the second of the two to be launched.

Refusing to put it on?! what an idiot!!! (sorry had to do it) that right there should have gotten him thrown out of the park. and as for undoing restraint systems... that is really stupid period. If you think airtime is more important than your life you need to get your head checked. and its stupid people like that who dont follow rules and get away with it (end up in court winning and haveing laws made stricter) that ruin the experience for the rest of us.
