As much chlorine that is in water parks, it wouldn't matter if a boil order is in place or not. It would kill any bacteria involved.
Major Kudos again to CP management for offering this promo. However, it does beg the question, if they didn't botch the water main break so badly, and closing the park wasn't their fault, why offer the promo now? Why issue refunds to resort guest and give rain checks to guest who were at the park those 2 days? All of those things are against the parks printed policies and other posters on this site have previously argued that they are terrible ideas and no way to run a theme park. They seem to me that they are good PR moves and are aimed at winning back unhappy customers that the park let down. I suppose this "just add water" promo could have been pre-planned for months and it was just happy coincidence it occured just after the water break. (or was it? Conspiracy theorists can chime in on how this whole thing was part of the parks plan to receive free national media coverage for their promotion){sarcasm}.
Major thanks to CP for the promo and apology.
The deal is as follows:
Buy a one-day Cedar Point admission ticket now through Sunday, June 15 and receive a free Soak City ticket.
The Cedar Point one-day ticket for this offer is $39.99, a savings of $20 off the gate price and must be used by Sunday, June 15, 2014. Free Soak City ticket is valid for use any one day through September 1, 2014. Offer is available online only and not available at park ticket booths.

Because an absolutely exceptional event occurred that inconvenienced guests, and the park is in the business of making folks happy.

Wrong. Most folks here argued against offering rain checks when it rains. Water mains break rarely. It rains often. You're going out of your way to ignore this obvious difference to suit your tr-, er, argument.

^^Water main break pre planned..wut
Obvious troll is obvious.

Unless I missed it, it kind of sucks for those with regular season passes. Oh well, probably wasn't going to go to Soak City anyway.
Also, you can buy business interruption insurance that covers water main breaks. No one will sell business interruption insurance that covers rain over a period of 140 days. You can get it for a one time event, but not 140 days.

That actually is a good point, I tried to raise earlier; but, I got yelled for bringing it up because I really don't know. I had heard the park has insurance for closures like this. I mentioned that the park could possibly make more money from an insurance claim than if it tried to stay open. If the park is covered that would explain a lot and why they chose to close rather than making efforts to remain open. No claim if the park doesn't close. Too much money and effort spent trying to stay open would cut into profits.
CF is self insured, therefore that argument atm is invalid.

Also, Guru, if CP were trying to commit insurance fraud they would do it on a weekday--not a high grossing weekend with extra people in the park for Coaster Mania and Coasting for kids.

For the record, the park was mostly closed for 2 days, not 1. I suppose it is fair to say some of my examples are an apple to oranges. It is also very true that we will never know how things would have turned out if the park had tried to stay open. We all can at least agree that it was a bad situation for the park to be in. There was no perfect option for the park. I fail to see the logic in turning away probably at least 30,000 people on Saturday and who knows how many on Sunday. I fail to see the logic denying a guest a choice to stay in a park with limited services if they chose to. Especially, for guests who traveled several hours to the park or who were staying in hotels off property; even guest who stayed on property but had to move to another hotel. I realize Jeff is probably irritated with me enough; but, I would be interested to know what he would have done if the park was open after flying his family into town. Would he have gone back to the park I know he loves or would he boycotted and found something else to do in the area. In my opinion, I believe most of the guest would have stayed in the park with limited serves and they would have dealt with the inconveniences just like we all do when TTD breaks down 27 times a day 4 out of the 7 days a week or Skyhawk and Shoot the Rapids stay closed all year. As for me personally, if the park stayed open and I was there. Yes, I probably would have stayed and bitched at any staff member who would listen; but, I would have had a great time like I always do.
Then I would have come back home and ranted on Point Buzz about the parks lack of planning until someone agreed with me. Does that sound like a fair assessment?

If you're going to continue being a troll, I think I'll botch your account. Thanks for the page views, but you're annoying the crap out of everyone.
