I have posted a series of pictures of Cedar Point Western Cruise Captains from the 1980's. I think between 1981 and 1984. Probably all the same year, maybe even the same day. Some black & white, some color. I am hoping maybe the venerable Old Timer Tim was caught on film by me, but if not, maybe he knows these guys anyway. The pictures are at this address: http://ourworld.cs.com/bretzfamily/page2.htm
More original CP pics from the 70's & 80's to come.

"As far as I can tell it doesn't matter who you are. If you can believe, there's something worth fighting for..." - Garbage, "Parade"
Gee whiz:) A guy goes away for a day or so and becomes the Forum Punching Bag;)...For a minute I thought I was Magnum Dan..."This one time on Western Cruise"...but I digress...
Anyhow YES I KNOW the names of SOME of the photos...While not as good looking as the link Jeff has in his post, the Captains in a few of the pictures are my TWIN Brothers, Captain Pat and Captain Brian...Also, one of the other Captains pictured is Captain Gary (see below for picture number)...He worked on the Western Cruise for two summers...with me in 1982 and then with my brothers in 1983 ( how lucky to spend two summers working with US)...Gary was also with me when I met my wife...and he was in our wedding.
Photos are from the Summer of 1983..
Here in ORDER as best as I can tell...
Photo #1 Captain Pat is waving
Photo #2 Captain Pat is on the right. (is he "hugging" that other Captain?)
Photo #3 Captain Pat has again found a camera to mug for.(this is a trait we still witness today...If you have a camera, you may take my picture...Pat is not camera shy:))
Photo #4 & #5 Captain Gary is on the left...Notice the "Blue Tag". Gary was the Group Leader (1983 version of the Team Leader) in 1983.
Photo #6 Captain Brian, the "other twin"...I'll let them decide which one is the better looking:)
As for the "outfits" we had class:)...And chicks dug the Garter's...Proving that some park guests will BUY anything with a CP logo on it...Some male guests would buy the GARTERS from the waiteresses in the Red Garter Saloon...well the FEMALES...wanting equal time would BUY the garters from the Captains.
Look before Mark McGwire and "Chicks dig the long ball"...Chicks were digging Western Cruise Captains!
OTT
BTW...Some of you are just jealous of the uniform because you can't wear it to your Bowling League Banquet at the local Sizzler.
The following comments have been received from "Captain Pat" himself...He is too lazy to enter his own post but I'll share it with you.....
Captain Pat says....
These pictures are clearly some of the greatest tributes to the history of the Western Cruise. Unfortunately, not everyone could wear the uniform as well as others and hence, the selection process for those of us who were lucky enough to be a part of this true classic ride was, in a word, grueling. Endless hours of modeling and keeping up a cheery attitude, and yet, it paid off.
They gave them to me.. hehehehe
Love the pics... Damn Tim... Lucky for us you got taken off the market or none of us would stand a chance of getting a date.. ;)
