While flipping through my Roller Coaster book by Dave Bennett (the big blue one), I noticed that there was a peice of track going through the corkscrew that doesn't seem to lead anywhere. In the illustration below it, the track does go throught the corkscrew, but in the photo, it doesn't look like it goes anywhere. Maybe somebody knows if it is trick photography or something else. Its really confusin' me.

All coaster books are big and blue ;). Wow, Mantis had paint on it once?

In the said photo, that stretch of track dives back down to the left beneath what is visible. You can notice the right rail just above the spine.

I see what you mean but I'll explain further. If you look at the where the track enters the corkscrew, you'll notice an extra track tat looks like part of the corkscrew, but it isn't really banked like it. You have to look closely to see it. I'll just say that if Mantis where a racing roller coaster, than that mysterious peice of track would be from the other track, making it look like interlocking corkscrews. Do you see what I mean now?

Thats what I'm talking about. Although it looks like it leads to nowhere and dissapears in the corkscrew it's really the last part of the ride and dives down to the ground before the hop up to the brake run. Nothing to loose sleep over.

The book has a lot of really good pictures, and a lot of them are CP.

Many, if not all, of the CP photos in there were shot by Dan Feicht, the same guy who does all of the brochure photos and such. He has created the biggest archive of Cedar Point images anywhere, and has been doing it for a few decades.

This one was even taken by Feicht. Also a lot of the pictures are taken in from restricted areas which gives some unique photos.
