Over on the CP Blog, Tony is asking for ideas on where to post the webcams for the season. Head on over and make a suggestion!
I'm too sexy for my harness!
Tony's office. Obviously.

It's a better suggestion than what they're getting so far. A camera on the front gate facing out to the parking lot? Really? I could watch that for hours.
Ok, I'm in.
I would love to have a webcam that shows Gatekeeper's queue in a very visible manner. It would be great to track the queue length when inside the park. Something I do frequently for Diamondback @ KI.
I submitted a comment on the blog but I'm not sure it went through. I had a little computer glitch when I submitted it.
I'd like to see a webcam on the top of the restrooms that are on your right as you enter the park. I would have it face toward the front entrance amd carousel. That way you could see the crowds on the midway as well as have a nice view looking at GateKeeper's keyholes and its turn around.
I also think it would be cool to turn the Dragster Cam around so we can get a view of the back of the park. It's a cool spot for a webcam but after seeing basically the same view for several years I'm ready for a change. Turn the cam around and there'll be a whole new view.
I also suggested adding a cam near the GateKeeper entrance/plaza. I know there's already one there (the cam on MaXair) but I'd like there to be a cam that's even closer. If placed correctly, maybe it could show part of the queue, plaza, and the actual ride itself. I think this would also be a good location for the live cam this year.

Yes, good idea for the entrance cam, and also turning the dragster cam around to face the tip of the peninsula :)
From there, we would be able to view not only the rides back there, but also the sunset, islands, and well.....everything else that's out there :)
I like the dragster camera facing the parking lot. Lets me know what kind of crowd they have and whether I should plan on going that day.
They used to have a camera on the ice cream parlor. Showed the midway, raptor and a couple of the games. Nice location.

That cam is going to have to be moved once the park opens, or when pre season testing of maXair starts
I'd like to keep the DragsterCam because you can see the entire parking lot. I'd also put another one up there facing the other way, so we can pretty much see the entire park with that combo -- sunrise to sunset.
John Hildebrandt mentioned how nice the view was from his office. A camera mounted there might be nice, so we can see what he sees. A view of GateKeeper from the carousel or Pink's might be cool.
I like John H.'s view from his office, but it's still pretty limited in scope. Although, I suspect he'll be able to see most of GateKeeper now.
You don't want to put one on top of the front restrooms, because the big A-frame is going away. Thank God, too, because those are hideous.

They don't seem to be posting the submissions to the blog, so I'll post my idea here. I would mount it on the Midway Train Station, looking towards the Skyride station.
I would either put it on the right under the lower eves, or if there is access, up high by the clock face. The camera would be protected, have power, yadda yadda. It would also show a good view of the midway. At night, it would be interesting, showing Luminosity, Windseeker, and the Giant Wheel.
I have a second spot that is a great spot, but it lacks a signature view.
The Corral tower on the main midway would be a great spot because it is central to the park, high enough to be interesting, but low enough to be able to see details of the crowd. But I don't know where I would point it. There are quite a few "good-enough" views (Raptor, Midway, Kiddieland, Coliseum) but no spectacular single shots that I can see using Google streetview. But it might be a case of being up the 20 feet where the camera would be mounted that would help me find the best POV.
Or if an interactive pan and tilt camera(like the Registercam) could be found, mount it on the roof.
I think a cam above TGIF facing the boardwalk, towards Gatekeeper, would cover a special area. If aimed properly, we could see TGIF's patio, the pool, the beach, the boardwalk, Windseeker, and Gatekeeper. The managers keeps saying they want to open up the lake view and this angle would provide exactly what they want the new guests to see.

I always like Pagoda cam too. It gave a good view of where the midways split. I gave good idea of the amount of people in the crowd. I'd keep Dragster Cam.
I think they should put 1 on the MEAN STREAK Station to show all the rides in the back or on the Power Tower too.

Bikini Cam - yes!
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
1. veiw of the gatekeeper station/entry plaza.
2. View of new front gate and keyholes. The one sitting in the parking lot is fine where it is, but maybe move it in a little bit.
3. I would put the third one in the back of the park somewhere. Near the glass blowing theater with a view of the snake river falls and/or Maverick along with some of the crowd would be a good choice. Another good spot would be sky ride station. You can place it to get a view of the corkscrew over the midway, the lift hills of Mantis and MF, Power Tower, and even TTD in the distance. It might catch some of Luminosity too.
