We don't care when you're going- A Rant

Forgive the rant, but this has been bugging me for a few seasons now. Well, quite a few seasons, actually.

I notice in just about every thread there's always somebody that mentions something along the lines of "I'll check it out when I'm there on X day."

Here's a few hints: Nobody cares when you're going to the park and there will always be somebody who's there before you anyway.

Keep in mind that a pretty large portion of this site's core users are locals so you're not impressing anybody or making anybody jealous because you're going to the park. I'm willing to bet that everyone on the boards has been there already and will return again.

I understand that some famlies can only make a trip out to the park once or twice a year. I understand because I've been in that boat before, as have a good number of folks on the boards.

My point is this: If you're posting just to tell us that you're going to the park and you'll "have a look" at something, you can stop. You're not earning anyone's respect because you're going to the park. You're not gaining status on the boards because you frequent the park: there is always somebody who goes more than you.

Yes, it's the begining of the season. Yes, everyone's excited to be getting out to the park for the first time. But, no, not everybody is excited to know that Joe Schmoe is going out to the park with his mommy and daddy. Nobody is anxiously awaiting his report back that he was the first to notice that Dragster's brake run has been reconfigured and that Iron Dragon is orange. If you are the Joe Schmoe, head over to Coasterbuzz and look up Playa's Theory of Nobody, then get back to us over here, okay?

Have fun flaming, because I know all the Joe Schmoes will be upset.

I agree with you, but it doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me.
Dragster's brake run has been reconfigured?

I'll check that out when I'm up there June 25.

I feel the same way as John, but had I brought it up as a site co-owner it would've been interpreted as pure dicketry.

That said, perhaps the more polite way to have put it is that with lots of us regularly going to the park, you're not providing any kind of information that someone else isn't going to post anyway, so save your breath.
