901liveson: It's ok for the OPS to follow procedures, but it is NEVER ok for them to be RUDE and make a guest paying 50 dollars to have a good time feel uncomfortable! I would NOT stand for that! I know what good customer service is and no matter how bad your day is you should NEVER take it out on who you are working for that day. You are paid to put on a smile and make your guests have the best time of their lives, which is what they deserve. So yes there is ALWAYS two sides of a story, but what are the OPS gonna say about being utterly rude? Nothing, there is no excuse.

Give em the pickle
HAHAHA! Totally had to learn that in orientation when I started a job at a nursing home! Such a good video because it is soo true! I remember one night I was driving home from Indianapolis after a very sickening plane ride from South Carolina and I decided to stop at A&W restaurant. Now I love ketchup and I ordered about 3 hot dogs, 3 fries and 2 burger (for 3 people) and I asked for lots of ketchup. I pulled away and found the lady only gave me like 8 ketchups or less. That is NOT enough for 3 medium fries alone! So I pulled back around and asked for more and the lady tried charging me for packets of ketchup! I was stunned and proceeded to tell the lady she was completely ridiculous and she called the manager over to ask him if she could "give" me more ketchup! He said yes but that he would have to charge me next time! I have never heard such a thing in my life and was very irked about the whole situation! It's just as bad as McDonalds trying to charge me 89 cents for one hot mustard sauce! These things cost restaurants pennies and I get completely pissed when they try to make an extra dime off of people like me!

Well, we have Guest Complaints. But please remember this story has TWO sides. Yes, despite you being the guest, thus I'm sure you feel your always right, the ride op's also have a side.
No, being a dick to people is not a side, ever. You don't have to be a dick to be right.

I rode Maverick Friday and the crew was actually one of my favorite of the night! There was on employee who was complaining about how little sleep he got last night, but it wasn't in a "gosh I hate my job" kind of way, just sort of in a "it is what it is" conversational way. The guy on the mic was funny, the loaded us quickly and efficiently.
When I worked Raptor in 1999/2000, we would get the call at entrance to "close the line" at the end of the night. We used to announce out loud that Raptor was closing for the night and if any guests came toward the entrance, we were to let them in. As for most guests, that is the "last ride" before leaving the park for the night so it would be a mad rush to get the last ride in before leaving. After that "rush", we closed the line and did not let anyone else in. Those in line/queue were never asked to leave.
I really hope this experience you had was due to lack of training on the employees part. I can bet if they keep acting like this, they won't be around much longer....

Wow. Were you at the park yesterday, May 17th? I also had a very bad experience with my group at Maverick, and this is one of the first bad experiences I've ever had at CP.The employees on the whole actually seemed nicer and friendlier the whole day than I have experienced in the past. Employees kept personally asking our group "How was the ride?" on rides like Cadillac cars, Blue Streak, etc. I was with someone that hadn't been to CP in 5+ years, and it just made me feel proud of the park.
Then, at about 7:50PM, we rode Maverick with no wait. It was awesome, and we got off with time for another ride, with a mostly empty station. My group of 4 asked if we could just change lanes to one that was empty to ride again. The ride op told us, "You can ride again, but you have to walk around."
Though silly, this was fine, and I had no problem. What I had a huge problem with was the Maverick entrance host. I don't know the exact time it was, but what she did was extremely rude and unnecessary, and I think I will be reporting this experience to Cedar Point. My friend and I walked a little faster than our 2 other friends, but we were clearly all together; they were a few seconds behind us.
We entered the line for a re-ride, and the phone began to ring. She yelled to us well into the queue that she got a call that the line was to be closed, and we should come back out, WHILE slamming the closed sign right in front of my 2 other friends! Now my 2 other friends may have been exaggerating, but they claimed she did it so rudely that this entrance host almost threw the closed sign at them and was completely ignoring them, as if they weren't there.
This is wrong on so many levels. First off, my friend and I were half way into the line at the point she said to come back out, and we did not listen to her; that was absurd. When my friend and I got to the station, the train was only like 50% full, so allowing my 2 other friends right behind us to enter would have made absolutely no difference, and they did 2 more Maverick trains after us to clear out the front seat queue, with only 2 or 3 riders on them.
Secondly, if she had some life-or-death urgency to close the line at that particular second between our friends walking, she could have respectfully said, "Sorry, I got the call that the line is closed, and I can't let you enter." Throwing a sign up (that they claimed they almost ran into), turning your back, and ignoring my friends was very rude.
Maybe this employee was very new and lacked common sense, but given those circumstances, there should never be that kind of urgency to close a line at a particular second, ignoring any customers in the path. The park was completely dead back there, and there was not a stream of people running to Maverick. Anyway, it ended the perfect day on a bit of a sour note, and I got to hear about the rude Maverick entrance host on the way home rather than how great the day was.
Me and my friend were there on may 17th too. I guess I rode with you, as we were on one of the last trains. I can see how the ride operator at the time could come off rude, he was joking around with us and it was a little dead pan, but he meant no harm just less of a filter than he should have on the job.
The second to last time he was joking about how I was not enthusiastic enough after the ride (I was just said when asked "enjoyable") I told him if he lets us stay on (being no one was waiting to get on our train) I would get as excited as he wants, He said we have to walk all the way around, I did not like that but guessing its a rule, we let it go.
We went on it 3 times in a row, and each time the Maverick entrance host was really nice to us. every time I came up with a new way to say hello and she joked around with us. The last time had to be when the park closed. we ran to the line and when we got in I looked at the time on my phone, she smiled and said "as long as your in the line when the park closes you are fine"
Its weird that one of the best experiences I had that day with an employee, she was so negative with you only seconds after. I don't know if that call she got had anything to do with your experience. After are last ride we walked past her and waved and got a smile back.

First off, I had no problems with the ride operators personally.
In regards to the entrance host, it was very bizarre. I think I may have even seen this same girl being jolly with you saying, "How many times is that now?" And I remember thinking in my mind, "Another nice employee..." So, I believe your perspective.
Where everything crumbled with her was after the phone call to close the line I guess. I'll add this detail that I forgot. My friends, who were rudely cut off as she was on the phone (the closing call)...
They said that they heard her say on the phone something along the lines of, "Sorry, two more just got in, and they're on their way up." This was after she had half yelled, "Sir the line has just been closed" to me well into the queue (she was on the phone when she said this to me too).
Since the park was dead at this time back there and no one else was entering Maverick, I don't know if she had a moment of panic that 2 people would enter the station after she got the closing call or what, but there was just no point in that kind of urgency, and that was certainly not the way to handle things.
I got my lap bar slammed down on me at Cedar Creek Mine Ride. The employee was very rude when my fiancee and I said it can't go down further. She preceded to yell "it has to go down." Then she slammed it down on us. She was very rude and now my fiancee has a nice bruise on her leg to remember the mine ride.
On the other hand we did have a great day overall.
We went on 5-26-12.
Unfortunately, you discovered the big flaw with Mine Ride. There is a universal lap bar that adjusts the same for the whole car, and it doesn't have very many lockable increments.
Your complaint is a common one there; she was kind of right that it had to click down or you couldn't ride. But, she didn't need to be rude, and she should have explained it nicely.
I used to have this same problem with my Dad growing up. He was tall and overweight, and we'd sometimes get a car full of small children. Since my Dad was the limiting factor for the whole car, he'd get the bar slammed down on him and be pinned in pain the whole ride.
My problem on Mine Ride was that the girl didn't know how to lock the lap bars and kept slamming them into people over and over again until the other guy on the platform came to do it for her. That was opening day though, so I assume that's been fixed by now.
