Is it me or is the wave swinger not there anymore. The pond cam on the maverick would show it. I dont know if that ride is taken down for the winter usually or not?? Anyone know??
Probably just the lighting. Not easy to see stuff when the sun is obscured by clouds.

Ah, so the whole darn thing disappears for winter, not even a pole left standing.
Goodbye MrScott
John
If you look at the Maverick pondcam you can kind of see a green pole/frame.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I think CP leaves the center pole up, and removes the majority of the frame that holds the fiberglass upper-parts for winterizing. Heavy snowfall or ice would probably do a lot of damage to the frame.
Anyone know if King's Island does the same thing to theirs?
Did you look at the picture Walt linked to?
There is no pole, the whole thing comes down. There might be some still up right now because they are in the process of taking it down, but it all comes down.
Goodbye MrScott
John
Yes yes. That's an archived picture. I've noticed that in the past they leave the center pole up, but take down the 'top part' of the frame. There's another photo on this site somewhere - Offseason Pics - Wave Swinger - something like that. Anways, can't find it at the moment. But what's there is just the center pole. Of course I could be mistaken.;)
Perhaps, in that picture, they hadn't finished taking apart the structure yet...

Kennywood dismantles it also for the winter for two main reasons:
1. protect it from the ice and snow
2. Perform maintenance and replace worn parts.
Hope that helps.

Come on people, the space is being cleared for X-Flight's move to CP!

You really wish that? I've never been on it, but X Flight doesn't even look great to me.

I needed earplugs to ride X-Flight on the lift, it just rattled badly. The worst part was I felt like I needed a welder's mask at a certain time frame while the sun gleamed on me. I was hoping for a re-configuration to avoid the sun blast.

Yeah, X Flight wasn't really all that great. I thought the Borg was much better at Carowinds, but hey, if they wanna move it to cp, thats 18.

I'm pretty sure they leave the Wave Swinger like this until spring when all the fiberglass panels, swings and lights are re-attached.
