Water dummies on unloading platform?

Does anyone know why the weight test dummies are on the unloading platform? I was at CP on Sunday/ 25th and they were sitting next to the fence that separates the unloading platform and the steps going to the exit. It just seemed odd to me that they would be there.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I do believe they use the weight test dummies during morning test runs. Since passengers unload to the opposite side it just seems to be a good storage area.

The dummies are always there....They use them everyday on morning test runs...As i remember they are on both sides of the unloading platform.

I was watching the test runs in the morning with the water dummies.

Not to sound stupid, why do they need them for the test runs? And thanks for the info!

To simulate how the trains would run with people...but without acctually putting people on the trains. I'm not sure but i think thats what its for.

I would think that the trains could run w/o the weight. But I am just a bar owner. Thanks Dennis!

It really depends on the wheels they've got on there (haven't looked lately). When the trains are stacked with nylon wheels, I've seen test runs sans dummies. With the normal urethane wheels and a cold track, that's when they've had their rollbacks without the dummies.

I watched a few tests this weekend from my ninth floor room in Breakers (which was the bomb by the way) and they did have dummies in the middle of the train on one of the mornings.

I was driving by to get some breakfast at Mcdonalds at like 7AM...on the 12th. I didnt intend to wake up so early, but it seams that somebody played around with the clock in the hotel messed the time up and instead of waking up at 8:30...i woke up at 6:30. Anyway, I was driving by the millie. They had a packed yellow train with dummies.
