Watching Bob Wickman Pitch=Riding Coaster at CP

Since there are plenty of Cedar Point and Indians fans on this site, I thought I’d share this clever little analogy Kenny Roda had on WKNR a few days ago. Apparently Kenny is a big Cedar Point fan. It went something like the following.

When Bob Wickman comes in for the save, it’s like riding a coaster at Cedar Point. When the Indians have the lead in the 7th, you know what’s coming up soon….. Wickman. You wait your 20 -30 minutes with great apprehension. Just like when you get in line for a Ride at Cedar Point like the Mangum, Millennium Force, or the Dragster (yes, he said the correct names even!), you wait in line and you know soon you will face the ride. You have that tingling in the pit of your stomach, the same feeling you get when Wickman is coming into pitch.

The 9th inning comes along and you sit down in your seat, just like a ride at Cedar Point and you get ready for some craziness. Watching him warm up is just like climbing a lift hill, as you can feel the anticipation of the wild ride to follow.

Then he gets started, he gives up a walk, a base hit, and next thing you know you are screaming down the first hill. Two on, No outs, he gets a pop up or something, and you get to the top of the next hill and brief a quick sigh, but you know the ride isn’t over. Another hit, deep fly balls, and you are on an up and down ride all over the place. Then the bases are loaded, and you know the finale is coming up. He somehow gets a ground ball to end the game, just as you coast into the brakes, and every briefs a collective sign of relief. It’s over!! Pheww!

I’d say even compared with all the rides at CP, watching Wickman in the scariest thing of all ;).

Yes, Joe I do have to agree watching Wicky come out and try to save a game is one of the scariest things out there. Of course when he blows a game it's like standing for three hours in line and you are about to be loaded on to the next train, the ride breaks down for the rest of the day.

Well at least he made a save today 8/7/05 so the Indians could sweep the motor city kitties.

"He says to me, 'Oh, there'll be no tip today, but on your death bed you will recieve total consciousness.' So, I got that going for me." Carl Spackler

The irony of the analogy is that Wickman is probably too big to fit on any of the "scary" coasters at CP.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Top Thrill Dragster is sinking...
