Wasp Population

Hi I'm wondering.. Is the wasp population at CP very large? I'm

deadly allergic to them and I need to know because I'm getting

to CP this Tuesday. I need to take extra precautions to not get

stung. I would'nt want to get stung.. That would just ruin my 2

day trip. (I live 8-9 hours away from CP)

Thanks,
Tom

There really are not a lot. I don't think you'll have a problem. Have fun:)

I have been to the Point many times in my life. NEVER have I seen a Wasp. Or a Bee for that matter.

If it's that serious then why don't you have medication on you at all times?

Medication doesn't stop poison from the sting, it just slows it's process. You still have to be rushed to the hospital. My mother has an epipen that she has to carry around incase of wasps. If she is stung, someone has to literally stab her with the needle-like pen and take her to the hospital. So I can see it easily ruining your whole 2-day trip. Though, I've never seen any harmful bugs at the point, just annoying ones ;)!

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

Yeah, I've never saw a Wasp or Bee at CP. There are Masquito's and Flies though... O_O
I've seen a single bee in the two years I've been going to CP. It was dead but it was definitely a bee. If you are so allergic, wear stuff that makes bees miss you. Don't wear bright clothing, floral patterns, perfume/cologne, that kind of stuff. I know that there are tons of mosquitos at CP so if you get bitten often, bring some Off or something. Flies are a problem only if you're sitting next to garbage.
Rushed to the hospital after using the epipen? That seems like overkill to me unless symptoms persist. People with severe allergies can have an anaphylactic reaction which is potentially fatal. Any hospital you go to will give you norepinephrine (noradrenaline) for it, and the epipen's purpose is to get the norepinephrine in people faster. However, I've never even seen a bee there.

I have had 2 anaphylactic reactions in the 2 times I've been

stung by a wasp. They were when I was 4 and last year. I DO

always carry 3 epipens with me, because every 15 minutes after

being stung i need to use one if I don't get to the hospital in time.

Anyways, thanks for the heads-up!

Even as a CP landscaper, I saw few bees and even fewer wasps. In 6 years working at the park in and around flowers and shrubs, I was only stung once.

I'm pretty sure you have to be taken to the hospital after a wasp sting, when your allergic, even with the use of an epipen. I'm pretty sure because my mom had to do it, and on the epipen there are instuctions to use the epipen, and it says after to go to the hospital. The dose in the epipen isn't strong enough and can only slow the poison down. As Coaster Cray-z said himself, every 15mins you don't get to the hospital an additional poke of the pen is needed.

I hit a bee on the Magnum once, but other than that I can't recall any problems with bees or wasps. Pretty impressive considering all the food that is outside there. I would think that would attract more of them.

Just got back from CP, saw no bees or wasps. Jeff, how do you know that he doesn't carry medication?
