Was Snake River Falls meant to replace Mill Race?

I just got done reading "Cedar Point: Queen of American Watering Places" a few weeks ago, and I noticed an interesting fact.

Mill Race's last year was 1993. I was a bit young at the time to remember this ride, so was the maintenance and upkeep on this ride bad? Did Cedar Point tear it down to install Raptor just because there was enough room there? And finally, was Snake River Falls meant to replace Mill Race since they installed it during Mill Races last year? They both are water rides after all...

I think they removed it because of Raptor, and maintenance...any one correct me if i'm wrong?

Yes, Mill Race was indeed removed to make way for Raptor.

More to the Point....some execs had been trying for years to put a "weenie" (big draw attraction) up close to the front of the park.  With Mean Streak and Magnum in the back the front was left a little bare.

The opportunity came with Raptor to showcase it in the front of the park and I think it is one of the most impressive looking midway coasters!

I don't think Snake River was really a replacement for Mill Race. They are different types of rides that just happen to have a few things in common. Chute the Chute rides were "in" at the time of Snake's introduction.

Besides, they already had White Water Landing which is a lot more similar to Mill Race then Snake River Falls.

Well, I know that there tore it out to make room, but what I really wanted to know if you guys thought that SRF was supposed to be a replacement.

Ironically enough, millrace, has the idea. :)
