I can't wait to see it with a fresh coat of paint. That is if they painted it.

Yes , I was there today and it's NOT PAINTED YET! I asked one of the Maintence Guys why it wasn't started yet and he said "the union contract was up on the CP painters and for some reason the company that they hired to paint Raptor won't start untill the union contract is approved for the CP painters".
That realy sucks. There is only 45 days till CP opens for crying out loud. I'm starting to think that Mantis and Raptor might both be painted next year together, unless they just push back the whole project, which I doubt.

You sound pretty angry over a paint job. What are you going to do - boycott the park?

It's amazing what CP can get done in virtually no time. The first or second year I worked there (it's all a blur...) I was walking down the midway with just 2 days to go: there was ripped up concrete all over the place, no plants in the gardens, and I wondered how they would ever be ready in just 48 hours! But they were, no sweat, and no one even seemed worried - you'd never have known what a mess it looked like. So I wouldn't worry that there are only 45 days left - that's a long time yet.

Curiously, though, they felt they couldn't construct a fountain in time.

Very good observation Joe. Make you think what they got up their sleeves, huh?
Good point. :)

I hope they paint it this year. I was really looking forward seeing it with new paint. :(

Seems like things have been getting a little weird at the Point lately. Something must be brewing or else they are just playing with our minds.
...But they can construct a restaurant in 45 days...

thats weird,i have a picture i found on the net that has a paint trailer parked in front of raptor.i wonder if its still there?
Putting a fountain in involves a lot more than you think. You have to hook it up to a water source then hook it up to a pipe to drain the water unless you are going to recycle it. Then not to mention the cement that has to be moved to do this as well as installing the electrical components around it. From the sounds of it CP's fountain was going to be very very elaborate and would probably take quite a while to construct. Given they should have easily been able to construct it in time. Something came along that made them think they could not.

Proud to be a Cedar Point Fanatic.
CP_Freak - all true, but if they were replacing the waterball fountain, the water source and pipes would already be there, at least for a most part. Who knows why they decided not to, and I'm sure it will happen sometime in the next few years anyway.
