In the 1993 and 1994 edition of Guinness Book of world records it has the MOONSAULT SCRAMBLE as tallest coaster at 207 FEET. and opened in 1983. I always thought that Magnum was the first in the world to break 200 feet, but according to guinness it was moonsault scramble in japan. Was magnum just the first to break 200 in america or what?
Are you sure the coaster in Japan wasnt classified as the longest drop? There is a difference between tallest and longest drop.
Magnum held the title for tallest coaster from 1989 until 1993.

Magnum was the first to elevate the entire car above 200ft, as well as the first complete circuit.
Moonsault Scramble is a shuttle, and as such, only the rear of the train ever broke 200ft.
You'll notice that Guinness now lists shuttles and full-circuits seperately.
Thanks for clearing that up Bill. In 1991 edition it lists Moonsault scramble at 246, ft and in the 1992 edition it says 230 ft. In 1993 and 1994 it says 207 feet. So what is the real height of the coaster?
I think 207 is the correct height. I'm sure Dave [RideMan] knows more than I, though.
